UNIT 3: PEOPLES IN VIET NAM
GETTING STARTED
I. Objectives:
1. Knowledge. By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to get acquainted with the topic about ethnic groups of Viet Nam.
Vocabulary: Different cultural groups of Viet Nam.
Grammar: + Questions with question words.
+ Articles: a, an, the.
2. Ability.
- Practice the dialogue fluently
- Ss will be able to use the lexical items related to the culture and people of VietNam and read correct intonation.
3. Attitude.
- Love the life, culture and people of VietNam.
- Have respect for teachers.
II. Teaching aids: Text books, cassette, chalk, pictures and some boards.

Activity 1. (5’)
Aim: Ss complete the sentences to get ready for the topic
Ask Ss to find out the words.
1. I’d like to ____buffaloes in the fields
2. The farmers are very busy during harvest time.
3. Have you ever ridden a ____?
4. People in the country are often open and ____
5.There are many ____paddies in my hometown.
Activity 2: 5’
Aim: Ss practice vocab relating to the topic and speaking correct intonation.
- Explain some new word
- Guide Ss to read new words in chorus and individually
Activity 3. 30’
Aim: Ss can practice the lexical items related to the topic.
Ask Ss to look at the picture ask:
1. What can you see in the picture?
2. Can you guess who are they?
3. Where are they?
4. What are they talking about?
-Ss listen and read the dialogue.
-Introduce some new words
Ex a: Find the opposite of these words
Ss to do Ex individually. Ss share the answers with their partner.
-Ask 1 to write the answers on the board.
-S write the answers on the board, others correct then give the right answers.
Ex b: Answer
-Ask ss to answer the questions orally without reading the dialogue.
- Ss ask and answer in pairs. 2 Ss write.
-Ask them to read the conversation and check the answers. Share with friends.
Activity 2: Label the picture
-T ask ss to look through the pictures then read the words and phrases then work in pairs and label each picture.
-Ss work in pairs.
-Ss give answers and other ss remark.
Activity 3: Complete the sentences
-Ss compare the answers with partners.
-Ss give answers before class, other ss remark.
-T sums up main content.
Activity 4. (5’)
Aim:Ss summary content and are guided to study at home.
- Teacher gets students to retell what they have learnt.
-Write Exercises in their notebooks.
