UNIT 9: WHAT COLOUR IS IT?
Lesson 1
I. Objectives:
- By the end of the lesson Ps will be able to: ask and answer questions about school things.
- Develop Ss speaking and listening skills
* General competences: Self-learning ability, communication capacity, capacity to use language, cooperation capacity.
* Specific competences: English language ability to get to know, develop self - capacity.
* Quality:- Love their class, love subjects and love teachers.
- United friend
II. Language focus:
- Vocabulary: revision
- Sentence Partners: Is this your school bag? – Yes, it is/ No, it isn’t
III. Teaching aids:
- Teacher: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette.
- Students: books, notebooks, workbooks.
IV. Teaching methods:
- Communicative approach.
- Techniques:
+ Ask and answer (say individually)
+ Work in pairs/ groups.
+ Discuss.

1. Warm - up: read the chant
2. New lesson:
a. Look, listen and repeat.
- Ask Ss to identify the characters in the picture on page 58 and what they are saying.
- Set the scene “you are going to listen to Mai and Nam ask and answer question about school things.
- Play the recording and asks Ss to listen to the tape.
- Call on one pair. One repeats Mai’s part, the other repeats Nam’s part.
b. Point and say
- Have pupils look at pictures on Page 58. Elicit the characters in the pictures and their names.
Model sentence: Is this your school bag?
– Yes, it is.
Is that your pen? – No, it isn’t.
- Model: Call on some Ss. Allocate the parts of the characters Mai, Quan and Nam to the pupils.
- Call on some Ss to perform their task in front of the class.
c. Let’s Talk
- Ask students to look at the pictures in the book.
- Ask them to identify the characters in the pictures.
- Call some pairs to act out
- Correct their pronunciation
d. Listen and tick.
- Tell Ps that they are going to listen and tick the correct boxes. Give a few seconds for Ps to look at the pictures.
- Play the recording three times for Ps to listen, do the task and check their answers.
- Get Ps to swap and check their answers before checking as class.

e. Look, read and write.
- Tell Ps that they are going to read and answer questions about school things. Give Ps a few seconds to read the text in silence.
- Get Ps time to do the task. Go around offer help, if necessary.
- Get Ps to swap and check their answers before checking as a class.
- Call some open pairs to do the dialogue

f. Let’s write.
- Tell Ps that they are going to read the text and fill the gaps. Give Ps a few seconds to do the task.
- Check comprehension and give feedback.
- Get Ps to swap and check their answers before checking as a class. Write the correct answers on the board for Ps to copy down their notebooks.
- Call a few open pairs to act out the dialogue
