UNIT 2: WHAT’S YOUR NAME?
Lesson 1: Period 9: 4, 5, 6
I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:
- Listen and tick the correct boxes.
- Look at the pictures and fill the gaps.
- Sing the song.
II. Language focus.
1. Vocabulary: review
2. Grammar: review
3. Skills: Develop Ss listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
III. Teaching aids.
1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, CD, computer, ...
2. Students’: books, notebook, workbook

1. Warm up.
- Spend a few mins to revise My name’s … and What’s your name? Comment.
2. New lesson.
2.4. Listen and tick.
- Draw Ss’ attention to the pics. Elicit the names of the characters in each pic. Ask Ss to guess what the characters say to one another and give feedback.
- Play the CD three times for Ss to listen, do the task and check their answers.
- Get Ss to swap and check their answers before checking as a class.
- Call on some Ss give the answers. Give feedback.
2.5. Let’s write.
- Give Ss a few seconds to read the texts in silence. Check comprehension and give feedback.
- Elicit the words to fill the gaps.
- Get Ss to swap and check their answers. Write the correct answers on the board for Ss to copy down into their notebooks.
2.6. Let’s sing.
- Tell Ss that they’re going to sing The alphabet song. Read the lyrics, check comprehension and give feedback.
- Sing the song and do the actions.
- Get groups of Ss to sit face to face and practise singing and doing the action.
- Call a group of 6 to the front of the class to sing. When they come to letter Z, the class will join and sing the last two lines together.
- Repeat the same procedure once or twice until Ss can sing from their memory.
3. Reinforcement.
- Ask Ss sing the song again.
- Guide Ss do exercises in WB.
4. Home-link.
- Ss sing the song at home. Prepare new lesson.

3. Skills: Develop Ss listening and speaking skills.

- Spend a few mins revising What’s your name? and I’m + name. Call a few pairs to do the dia in front of the class. Then get the class to sing The alphabet song. Give feedback.

- Draw Ss’ attention to the 1st pic and elicit the names of the characters and what they say.
- Get Ss to repeat the text in the bubbles a few times. Repeat the procedure with the 2nd pic. Explain how to spell one’s name, e.g. Linda.
- Have Ss practise spelling several names.
- Do choral and individual repetition of the languge, pointing to the characters speaking.
- Play the CD for Ss to listen and say along.
- Call on some Ss role-play in front of the class. Give comment.

- Draw Ss’ attention to the 1st pic and elicit the names of the characters and what each one says. Fill the bubbles. Put the question and answer on the board.
