LESSON 1: Story telling

1. Preparation
- A song about wild animals.
2. Procedure

 Warm up
- Let the children sing and dance to the song about wild animals. Ask them to say
along and follow the teacher to make movements or actions as of the animals.
For example: monkey – swing, tiger – roar,...

 Do activities
- Ask the children to open pp.30-33, Eduplay Friends 3A (Pupil's Book), look and
listen to the teacher telling a story about John and the leader exploring the
jungle.

- Ask the children to open each page again, listen to and repeat after the teacher
introducing the characters in the story.
- Page 30, guide the children to introduce John, the leader and the wild
animals:
This is John. John is in the jungle.
This is the leader. The leader is in the jungle.
This is an elephant. It's grey. The elephant is in the jungle.
This is a tree. It's green.
-Page 31, guide the children to talk about the monkey:
This is a monkey. It is brown. The monkey is in the jungle.
-Page 32, 33 guide the children to talk about the bear, tiger similarly.
When the children remember, ask them to open the pages and re-tell the story,
a part or the whole story. Encourage them to build their confidence.
3. Wrap up
- Review the words about wild animals and their typical actions/ movements.

Period 2

LESSON 2: Jungle animals toss game

1. Preparation
-Build a standee of animals that the children know already, such as: monkey, tiger,
elephant, bear. Cut a hole on each animal as the picture on page 34, Eduplay
Friends 3A (Pupil's Book); a basket with balls (number of balls equals to number
of children in class) and 4 empty baskets.
2. Procedure

 Warm up
-Ask the children to sing along and make movements correspondingly to the
song about animals. Let them imitate the typical actions/ movements of the
animals. For example: monkey – swing, tiger – roar,...

 Do activities
- Put the basket with balls within children's throw distance to the standee. Put an
empty basket in front of each animal to hold the balls children will throw at the
animal.
- Ask the children to play one by one. When the teacher says: Get a ball and throw,
a child will pick up a ball, say aloud the animal he/ she likes most (among those
animals on the standee), and throw the ball to the hole on it. For example, the

child will say: I like monkeys., and throw the ball to the hole on the monkey.
Another child says: I like tigers., he/ she will throw a ball to the hole on the
tiger…
When finishing, the child will run to the back of the standee, pick up the ball and
put it in the basket in front of the animal he/ she likes.
- Let all the children in the class play this game, then count the number of balls in
each basket. If time permits, let them play again one more time
3. Wrap up
- Ask the children to wave goodbye to the wild animals, ending the lesson.
