IN THE JUNGLE
Period 1

LESSON 3: Listen and repeat

1. Preparation
- Flashcards of animals (monkey, tiger, elephant, bear).
2. Procedure

 Warm up
- Give each child a flashcard of an animal, encourage him/ her to say it aloud.
- When the teacher says a word, for example: monkey, children who have the
flashcards of that animal (monkey) will stand up and change their seats.
- Keep going with other animals, one by one or some at once to motivate the
children.

 Do activities
- Ask the children to open page 35, Eduplay Friends 3A (Pupil's Book), listen to the
teacher reading the chant.
- Guide the children to read the chant:
o Step 1: Briefly explain the content of the chant to the children, not to translate it.
o Step 2: Guide the children to read each sentence, paying attention to the
sentence stress. Let them practice reading several times.
o Step 3: Guide the children to make movements accordingly to each sentence.
o Step 4: Let the children read and act at the same time. The teacher can divide
the children into some groups and let them practice reading the chant.
- Ask a group of children to read and perform the chant in front of the class. Ask
them to do slowly, very slowly, fast or very fast, if possible.
3. Wrap up
- Ask the whole class to review words about wild animals to end the lesson

Period 2
1. Preparation

LESSON  Let's talk - Find and circle

- A jungle model with toy tiger, bear, monkey, elephant; binocular toy; pencils or
crayons.
2. Procedure

 Warm up
- Ask the children to sit in a circle. Invite a child to stand up and go around,
touching his/ her friends' head, saying a word of wild animal, for example:
monkey. Suddenly the child says a different word, for example: elephant, and
touch a friend's head, that friend has to stand up and chase the child who will try
to run as fast as possible to sit in his/ her friend's seat.
- The next round of the game will start from the one who has sat down.

 Do activities
- Ask the children to open pp.36-37, Eduplay Friends 3A (Pupil's Book), look at the
picture and listen to the teacher introducing the characters: This is… The leader is
in the jungle. John is in the jungle.
Activity 1: Find and circle
- Ask the children to find the wild animals on the page and circle them using a pencil
or a crayon.
- Let the children find and circle as requested. The teacher is supposed to ask the
children about the animals they have found. For example, ask the children to talk
about the elephant they have found: Look! It's an elephant. It's grey.
Activity 2: Let's talk
- Ask the children to play as the leader and John and use the binocular toy to find the
animals hiding behind the trees or the rocks in the jungle (model prepared).
Whenever they find an animal, say aloud its name. For example:
John: Look! It's a tiger.
Leader: Yes. It's a tiger.
- Let some pairs of children practice at the same time. Encourage them to use
words and patterns they learnt before. For example: Look! It's a tiger. It's yellow
and brown. It's in the jungle.
3. Wrap up
- Let the children point to the circled animals and say the words aloud.
