Lesson 1: Getting started + Listen and read. P.131
I. Aims:
- To help students read and understand the dialogue in details.
- To introduce some famous world landmarks.
- To develop students’ skills.
II. Objectives: - By the end of the lesson, students will be able to understand the dialogue and practise the question words before the “to - infinitives”.
III. Ways of working: T-WC, team work, group work, pair work, individual work.
IV. Materials:- Textbook,computer.
V. Anticipated problems: The lesson may take time.
VI. Teaching steps:
1.Warm up: (6 min) * Teacher greets and checks the students’ attendance.
* Getting started:
T. shows Ss some pictures about famous places in the world and asks Ss to name them.
Ex: Picture 1: T: What is it?
S: The Pyramids / Kim Tự Tháp
T: How do you know about it?
S: ……………………….
Picture 2: Sydney Opera House Picture 5: The Great Wall
Picture 3: Stonehenge Picture 6: Statue of Liberty
Picture 4: Golden Gate Bridge

* Set the scene:
Hoa and Nhi are playing guessing game about famous people or places in the world.
* Ordering:
How does the game work?
- Ask Ss to work in groups (group of
4- 5 students) to order the statements into a guessing game.
I. New words:
- wonder (n): kỳ quan
- guess (v): đoán
- guessing game (n): trò chơi đoán
- clue (n): đầu mối, manh mối
II. Ordering:
a) B asks A questions to find out who or what it is.
b) A thinks of a famous person or place.
c) B wins if he/ she can guess the correct answer.
d) A gives B a clue.
e) B loses if he / she can not guess the correct answer.
f) A can only answer Yes or No.
PRAC-

(20 minutes)
* Listen and read:
- Students look at their books while they are listening to the tape and then check ordering
- Students work in group to practise the dialogue and then complete the summary on page132.
- Call on one student to read the completed the summary.
- Teacher elicits the model sentence by asking the question:
Can Nhi play the game 20 Questions firstly?
- Concept checking:
+ What does this sentence mean in Vietnamese?
+ Is How a question word?
+ What kind of speech is to play?
- Ask Ss to give the form of the structure.
* Word cue drill:
- Students work in pair to practise the structure: Wh- word + to infinitive.

1.She told me how to go there.
2.Linh showed Mai where to get
tickets.
3.I advised Nhi how to go from Hue
to Hoi An.
4. Nga told Na what to do there
during the visit.
