+/ Understand the conversation between Mi, Phong and Nick through exercises.
+/ Use some common phrasal verbs correctly and appropriately.
+ Integrate with History to name the handicrafts in VN or other countries…

- Teacher: Auxiliary boards.
- Students: Prepare the new words , practice pronouncing these words.
III. Procedure.

3. New lesson.
* Warm up.(3’) To introduce the new lesson.
- T ask Ss to open their books and look at the picture, then answer the teacher’s questions.
Activity 1. Listen and read.(15’)

- T introduces the characters in the dialogue: Mi, Phong, and Nick, then T tell them that the unit is not about environmental issues such as pollution, deforestation, but it is about the physical conditions in an area such as its features, traditional crafts, or places of interest.
- T supplies the newwords.
- T plays the recording 2 or three times.
- Ss know how to pronounce , look at the new words and say the meaning.
- Then ask Ss to practice the newwords.
- Ss practice reading the dialogue in small groups.
- Ss work individually, then compare their answers with a partner, then discuss as a class. T writes quickly the correct answers on the board.
- Have Ss read the questions to make sure they understand them.
- Firstly Ss answer the Qs without reading the dialogue again, then ask them to check their answers by reading the dialogue again.





Activity 2.2. Write the name of each traditional handicraft in the box under the picture.(8’)
- Have Ss look at the pictures. Tell Ss that in the box are some traditional handicrafts of different regions in Viet Nam. Ss match these handicrafts with the pictures.
- Ss compare their answers in pairs before giving their answers to T.
Activity 3. 3. Complete the sentences with the words/phrases from 2 to show where in Viet Nam the handicrafts are made. Yu do not have to use them all. (10’)
- T asks Ss to work in small groups to complete the sentences with words/ phrases in 2.
- T calls on 2 students to write the answers on the board.
- T gives the key.
4. Production. (3’)
- Ask some Ss to names some handicrafts they know in VN or other countries.
- Other Ss remarks or teacher add some information….
5. Homework. (3’)
- Copy and learn the new words.
- Read again the dialogue and get the main information.
- Prepare the new lesson: A closer look 1: New words, read exercises and plan the answers.
- Ss work in pairs or groups.
