INTRODUCING THE SUBJECT AND
THE WAY OF STUDYING
A. Objectives:
-To introduce the students to English subject.
-To enable the students to know how to study English 6.
-To make the students aware of the importance of the foreign language learning
B. Language contents:
1. Vocabulary:
2. Structure:
C. Techniques: Pair work, asking –answering, game, group work.
D. Teaching aids needed: text book.
E. Procedures
I. WARM –UP (5’)
- Has the students work in pairs to discuss the following questions (in Vietnamese):
Which subject do you like to study ?
Why is it one of the importance subjects ?
What do people learn English for?
How can we study English well?
- Calls some students to answer.
- Remarks
II. PRESENTATION (15’)
- Introduces the content of English book 6 “Each unit has 2 or 3 section such as A , B and C. There are all 16 units”
- Guides the students to observe each section of one unit and the way of studying.
* prepare the lesson before class
* listen to the teacher and the tape.
* cooperate with the partner.
* learn the vocabulary in the situation .
* apply studied structures in the real context.
* practice English frequently
III. PRACTICE: (20’)
- Writes down some commands used widely in the class .
* Good morning, teacher.
* Good afternoon, teacher.
* Take your seat.
* Go to the board.
* Again.
* Stand up !
* Sit dow !
* Look at me !
* Repeat !
* Listen !
* Keep silent , please !
* Stop talking !
- Has the students listen and repeat.
- Asks the students to work in pairs to practice the phrases.
IV. PRODUCTION. (4’)
- Has the students play game “Simon says”
- Explains how to play: the students only repeat when the teacher says some thing beginning with “Simon says”
- Reads and looks at the students acting
- Remarks.
V. HOMEWORK (1’)
- Asks the students to:
+ learn the commands
+ prepare Unit 1 , lesson A(1,2,3,4)

Unit 1 : GREETINGS
Section A. Hello ( 1, 2, 3, 4 )
A. Objectives:
- To enable the students to greet friends and introduce their name.
B. Language contents:
1. Vocabulary: Hello, hi, I, I am = I’m, name, my, is, am,
2. Structure: I am Nga.
My name is Nga
C. Techniques: Pair work, asking –answering, game, group work.
D. Teaching aids needed: text book, chart, tape, pictures.
E. Procedures
I. WARM –UP (5’)
- Has the students observe the picture in A1 and describe the content of the picture.
- Introduces the content of the lesson.
II. PRESENTATION (15’)
- Has the students listen to A1 and A3 and repeat.
- Explains the structure and vocabulary
Hello Hi
- They are used to greet people. But “Hi “ is more friendly often used when people are the same age, especially friends.
* Ways of introducing the name:
I am + name
My name is + name
- Reads and has the students repeat.
- Checks their understanding by asking them to greet each other and introduce themselves.
III. PRACTICE: (20’)
- Makes a model with a student.
Eg T: Hi. My name is Huong
S : Hello. I am Lan.
- Has the students practice in pairs.
- Calls some pairs to play in roles before class .
- Corrects and remarks
IV. PRODUCTION. (4’)
- Has the students work in group of 3 or 4 to greet and introduce their names.
- Calls some groups to present .
- Corrects and remarks.
V. HOMEWORK (1’)
- Asks the students to:
+ learn the structures of greeting and introducing the names . exercises A 4.
+ prepare Unit1, A 5,6,7.
