UNIt 5: WORK AND PLAY
Lesson 4: At recess (B 1,2)






I/ AIM: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to read the text about activities at recess for information. They will listen to the description of recess for details. At that time, they can ask and answer the questions about the recess activities. They should be taught to take part in different activities they like.
II/ LANGUAGE CONTENT
Vocabulary: bell, excited, chat, marbles, play catch, blindman’s bluff, indoors.
Grammar: - Present progressive.
III/ TECHNIQUES: Cross word, chatting, survey, what and where, visual, synonym, ordering, chitchat, matching, rub out and remember, grid, translation, interview.
IV/ TEACHING AIDS: Pictures of activities at recess.

* Teacher helps students play the game – Cross word.


Slide 3/ Introduction
- The title of the lesson
After three periods, we have a break. At break time, you do many things. What you do. After the lesson, you will talk about the recess.

*Teacher’s eliciting with pictures:
- What can you hear before students go out? – The bell rings/ the drum sounds.
- How do they feel? – They feel excited
- What are they doing?/ What are boys and girls doing?
- They are … chatting, talking, playing …
- Where do they go after the recess?
- They go inside // go indoors
Students listen and repeat the new
words. First chorally and then individually.

Teacher helps students play the game.




Slide 7/ Rub out and remember
- What is this boy doing now?
- He is playing catch.
Teacher helps students recite the dialogue, and then they rewrite the missing words.

Introduction: You are going to hear the description of the activities at recess. Before listening, match each name to an activity you think.

Teacher plays the tape twice. At that time, they listen and then correct their prediction.

Teacher asks students take turn to ask and answer these questions in pairs:
A: What do you do at recess, Minh?
B: I eat and drink.
A: What do you do after school?
B: I listen to music.


Then students report what they do.
*Ex: Minh eats and drinks at recess. He listens to music after school.
Teacher corrects their pronunciations of present tense: eats /s/
chats /s/ , drinks /s/, listens /z/
