Today, the Vietnam electric power system has been growing rapidly, which has motivated the development of both economy and society. It has played an important role in international integration in economic term, especially in Vietnam industry. Thank for electric power system, the standard of living has been improving. According to my research, Vietnam Electric Power System is made up of power plants, power grids and consumers. They are linked together into a system so as to perform four processes concluding production, transmission, distribution and consumption. Now, there are many places which convert other kinds of energy forms into electricity. For example, thermal power plants constructed in Pha Lai, Uong Bi, etc; Hydro power plants in Hoa Binh, Son La, etc are the most important places of production. Especially, Vietnam has been completed and operated the first nuclear power plants in Ninh Thuan, which is a new step in Vietnam electric power system. With the construction of the 500kV North-South line operated by the state electricity utility company (EVN), Vietnam has responded the internal electricity demands. Besides, electric power trading with neighboring countries such as China, Cambodia, etc is a good point in the international integration of Vietnam electric power industry. In spite of the fast growth rate, there are many problems in producing and operating the electric network. For instant, because of the geographical characteristics of the country, electric distribution has many difficulties, particularly when transmitting and distributing electricity in mountains and islands. Moreover, electric power loss has not been treated thoroughly. In addition, Vietnam is lack of skillful electrical engineers and modern technology, etc in order to construct the electric power plants. From my point of view, Vietnam electric power system should have new steps in using alternative energy. Nowadays, because of environment pollution, using clean energy resources is an effective solution for responding electricity demands. Some renewable energy resources which may be developed in Vietnam are solar energy, wind energy, tidy energy, wave energy, etc. I believe that in the future Vietnam will have stable steps in developing the electric power system to balance the power supply and demand.
