UNIT 3: THIS IS TONY
Lesson 1: Part 1,2,3.
Steps
Activities
I. Aims
By the end of the lesson Ps can:
- Use the words and prrases releted to the topic introduction.
- Introduce someone, using this is + (name).
II. Language focus:
* Sentences patterns: This is Tony
* Vocabularies: This
III. Teaching aids:
Text book, Picture, cassette, CD, workbook, puppets……
VI. Procedure.
A. Warm up:
Greet the class by saying Hello. How are you? What’s your name?
Then play a game. “slap the board” with some words and sentences you have learnt in unit one and two.
B. Main lesson
1. Look, listen and repeat:
Tell Ps that they are going to practise introducing someone, using This is + (name) Elicit the name of the teacher and two Ps and what they say. Give feedback. Have Ps repeat the text in the bubbles a few times. Repeat the procedure with the second picture
Do choral and individual repetition, poiting to the charecters speaking.
Play the recording for Ps to listen and say along
2. Point and say.
- Tell Ps that they are going to practise introducing someone, using This is + (name) and responding to that introduction. Draw Ps attention to the picture. Point to each character and elicit the name and the word to fill the gaps. Give explanation, if necessary write the sentences on the board and have Ps repeat them a few times.
Do choral and individual repetition, pointing the characters’ speaking.
Get Ps to work in pair to practise the language. check as the class
3. Let’s talk.
- Tell Ps that they are going to practise more with their friends. Give a few seconds for Ps to look at the picture and read the text. Elicit the the word to fill the gaps. Write the sentences on the board and have Ps repeat them a few times.
Get Ps to work in groups of four, using the characters’ names in the book or their own name. Correct the pronunciation, if necessary.
Call a groups of four tothe front of the class to act out the introduction.

Language note:
Draw Ps’attention to the linking between two words (eg this is) when speaking.

A. Warm up:
Revising What’s your name? My name’s + name, how are you? Fine,thanks…..then play the game wishper
B. Main lesson
4. Listen and tick:
Tell Ps that they are going the correct boxes. Give a few seconds for Ps to look at the picture. Elicit the names of the characters and what they might say to once another. Give feedback.
Play the recording three times for Ps to listen, do the task and check their answers.
Get Ps to swap and check their answers before checking as a class.
