Period 81: READING
Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
Practice some reading skills such as scanning for specific ideas, skimming for main ideas, summarizing main ideas.
Get to know vocabulary to talk about the topic “Film and cinema”.
Method: Communicative approach.
Teaching aids: Textbook, poster, board, handout, cassette.

T checks attendance.

III. Warm-up: (6’) Guessing game
Rule: Listen to music and guess the name of the film.
List of songs:
- “My heart will go on”
- “Everytime”
- “Beauty and the Beast”
- “See you again”

Ss are asked to listen to the pieces of songs and guess the name of the film.
Ss raise the hand to answer and receive a small gift if it’s correct.
After finishing the game, Ss are asked to guess the topic.

Activity 1: Answering the questions
1. Do you want to see a film at the cinema or on TV? Why?
2. Can you name some of the films you have seen?
Suggested answers:
1. I prefer to see a film on TV to at the cinema because it’s more comfortable.
2. Some of the films I’ve seen are Gone With The Wind, Tom and Jerry, Independent Day, …
Activity 2: Teaching vocabulary
1. discover/dɪˈskʌvə(r)/(v) = find out: khámphá
Ex: Columbus discovered the America in the 15th century.
2. sequence/ˈsiːkwəns/(n):series of related events or actions: trìnhtự
3. decade/ˈdekeɪd/(n): a period of ten years: thếkỷ
4. existence/ɪɡˈzɪstəns/(n): the state of being present : sựtồntại
5. scene/siːn/ / (n): a part of film in which the action happens: cảnh
