A. ASKING THE WAY. ( A4-5 )
I. OBJECTIVES:
- By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to practice asking and answering about distances between two places with “ How far …”.
- Focus on: Speaking & Listening skils.
II. TEACHING AIDS:
Extra boards, caseete.
III. PROCEDURES:
1.Class organization:
- Greetings.
- Checking the attendances.
2.Review of the previous lesson:
- Have Ss play a game : Hangman ( 3 words )
+ The first word has 6 letters . It is used for asking about distance .
+ The second word has 5 letters . It is used for measuring distances .
+ The third word has 8 letters . It is also used for measuring distance.

-Introduce the aim of the lesson , then explain some new words and structures .
- Ask Ss to look at the dialogue and listen to the tape. ( Using cassette ).
-Ask Ss some questions about distance using : How far is it from……….to…………?
- Ask Ss to listen to the tape again and read after the tape .
- Have Ss work in pairs reading the dialogue .
- Call on some pairs to practice in front of the class .
- Ask Ss to answer the question :

b. Look at this table of distances in km . Ask and answer questions with a partner.
- Ask Ss to look at the map and the table in the book carefully .
- Make example :
- Have Ss work in pairs asking and answerring about the distances .
- Call on some pairs to practice in front of the class .
- Correct the mistake if necessary . Ask Ss to write down in the notebooks .

-Listen to the teacher carefully .
-Guess the meanings , read new words in chorus and individually then copy down .

It’s about 680 km .


- How far is it from Vinh to Ha noi ?
It’s about 319 km


4.Consolidation:
- Ask them to work in pairs : Ask & answer the questions with” How far is it from….to….?” .
- Call on some pairs to practice in front of the class.
- Correct the mistake and ask them to write down.
5.Homework:
-Write the answers in the notebooks
-Prepare Unit 8: (B1) for the next period. ( Read the dialogue ).
