LESSON 1: READING
I. Aims:
-Students can get the knowledge about some national park in the world.
-Students may find many new words.
-Passage comprehension.
-Scanning for specific information.
II. Procedures
*Step 1: Organization: asks Ss some questions

What is the date today?
How do you feel today?.....Ss answer

I. Warm up (5’)
-T prepares 3 pictures related to national parks and sticks on the board
-T asks Ss to look at the board and asks some question: “What can you see in these pictures?
In the pictures 1,2,3 What is this”
+Ss answer: “ thousand year old tree, deer, butterflies”
-T: “what are these pictures about?”
+Ss: “They are bout plants and animals”
-T: “Where can you see them?”
+Ss: “ In the forest or in the national park”
II. Presentation:
Teacher:
“Nowadays, many plant and animal species are becoming endangered and extinct. Therefore, they are protected in some national parks around the world. Today, we will learn a new lesson about “National Parks" to understand more about them.”
III. Practice:
1. Before you read: (10’)
*Activity 1: Ask and answer the following questions.
-T: “Have you ever been to a national park?
Can you name some of the national parks in Viet Nam and in the world?”
Suggested answer:
1. Yes/No.( if yes, where? When?)
2. Cuc Phuong, Cat Tien, Bach Ma, and Nairobi National Park….
*Activity 2:Vocabulary
-T: “Before reading, I will provide you some new words”
-T writes new words on the board and explain the meaning
*New words:
Contain (v): chứađựng, baogồm
Rainforest (n): rừngmưa nhiệtđới
Recognise (v): nhậnbiết
Species (n): loài
Survival (n):sựsốngsót, tồntại
Orphaned (adj): mồcôi
Orphanage (n): trạitrẻmồcôi/ nơinuôithúbịbỏrơi Abandon (v): từbỏ, bỏrơi
Sub-tropical (adj): thuộccậnnhiệtđới
Contamination (n): sựlàmbẩn -T read aloud first and asks Ss to listen and repeat
-T asks some Ss to read the words aloud and correct pronunciation if necessary.
+Ss write down on the notebook.
2. While you read: (20’)
-T: “You are going to read the passages about three national parks.”
-T asks Ss to read the passages silently in 3 minutes
*Task 1
T asks Ss to tell their task: Fill the words in the in the passage that is best suits each of the following definition
-T divides class into 2 big groups.
-T gives instruction: “Work in groups. Fill the words in the in the passage that is best suits each of the following definition”
-T ask Ss to read all sentences quickly
- T explain new words if necessary
-T gives each group a sheet of paper to write the answers.
-T gives 30s for Ss to compare and complete their answer.
- T checks: T designs a mini-game named: “Favorite color”.
- T gives instruction: “We have five different colors which is the number of the sentence. I will call randomly to choose the color that you like. After I count 1-3, which group raises the hands first will be answered. You will get one point for each correct answer. Group has more point will be winner and receive a gift”.
- T checks understanding or explain in Vietnamese if necessary
-T checks and gives answer key.
*Answer key:

*Task 2
-T asks Ss to tell their task: answer the following questions.
-T asks Ss to work in pair and read 6 questions quickly

+Ss practice
-T asks Ss to go to the board and write their answer
-T checks and gives suggested answer.
