LESSON 5: LANGUAGE FOCUS
A. Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
-Distinguish the sounds /s/ and /z/
-Use to infinitive to express the purpose, and make Wh- questions

Warm up: Game
-T asks Ss to repeat these sentences:
She sells sea-shells on the sea-shore.
The shells she sells are sea-shells, I`m sure
For if she sells sea-shells on the sea-shore Then I`m sure she sells sea-shore shells
- T leads in the new lesson: language focus
Pronunciation
Distinguishing the sounds
- T models the two sounds /s/, and /z/
- T plays the tape (or reads) once for Ss to hear the words containing these soud
-T plays the tape(or reads) again and this time T asks ss to repeat after the tape (or T)
- T askss to read the words in each column out loud in chorus for a few times. Then T calls on some Ss to read the word out loud.
-T listens and corrects their pronunciation
Practicing sentences containing the target sounds
- T plays the tape (or reads) once for ss to listen to the sentences. Then T plays the tape(or reads) again and this time T asks ss to repeat after the tape (or T)
- T asks ss to work in pairs and take turn to read aloud the sentences.
- T calls some students to read the sentences again and provides corrective feedback.

-T rubs out some of the word
-T asks Ss to keep practicing the dialogue
Dialogue
John: What do you listen to music for?
Nam: I listen to music to relax.
John: What do you listen to English songs for?
Nam: To learn new vocabulary, I listen to English songs.
-T elicits the target structure and write model sentences on the blackboard

-T checks meaning, form, use and pronunciation
Form:
What......for?
=>To + infinitive
Use: ask and answer about purpose
Pronunciation: xuốnggiọngcuốicâu
-T asks Ss copy down
Exercise 1: Use the words in brackets to answer the questions.
-T asks to do exercise 1 individually and then compare their answer with a partner’s.
-T calls some ss to read out their answers.
-T corrects the mistakes
Exercise 2: Complete the sentences
-T asks ss to do exercise 2 in groups and then hang their answers on the boards. (students write their answers on small boards)
-T corrects the mistakes
Exercise 3: Make questions
-T asks ss to do exercise 3 in groups and then hang their answers on the boards. (students write their answers on small boards)
-T corrects the mistakes.
