Zoo Animals (Lesson 1)
I. Objectives: After the lesson the students will be able to:
Ask and answer question about zoo animals
II. Teaching aids:
Teacher’s aids: Student’s and teacher’s book, flashcards, recordings, puppets.
Students’ aids: Books, notebooks, workbooks.

1. Warm-up: (5’)
Ask Ss to say the names of five animals they know in English
2. Presentation: (13’)
Task 1: Look, listen and repeat.
Have Ss open your book on page 42
Ask them to identify the character and talk about the picture of this part
Tell them that they are going to hear Ben and mother talk about the weather
Use the picture in the Ss book or flashcards to present the situation
Play the recording all the way through for Ss to listen as they read the lines in the speech bubbles
Play the recording
Play the recording again
Divide the class into two groups repeat each line
Repeat the step a second round, but have the groups swap their parts
Ask a few question to check Ss’ comprehension
Have the whole class repeat each line in the speech bubbles to reinforce their pronunciation

Task 2: Present the new words and sentences pattern.
Introduce the new words:
animal
a tiger
a lion
a giraffe
an elephant
a monkey
a crocodile
a bear
Read and ask Ss listen and repeat the news words a few times.
Ask Ss read in groups
Ask Ss read in pairs
Introduce the sentences:
What animal is that?
It’s………….
Explain the sentence
Ask Ss write the sentences in their notebook
3. Practice: (10’)
Task 3: Work in pairs.
Ask Ss work in pairs practice the chant
Call on some pairs read in front of class
Task 4: Look and say
Have Ss look at the picture a, b, c, d, e and f
Ask them to talk about the content of each pictures
Tell them that they are going to practice asking and answering about the animals
Pairwork: Ask Ss practice asking and answering in pairs, using the pictures in the pictures in the Ss’ book or flashcard
Select some pairs to demonstrate this activity at the front of the class
Observe and give comment
Ask a few question to check comprehension of the language practiced
Have the whole class repeat all the questions and answers to reinforce their pronunciation
4. Production: (5’)
Task 5: Play a game
Explain how the game is played
Ask Ss to play the game
5. Homework: (2’)
