Unit 1: Hello
Lesson 1: Period 1: 1, 2, 3
I.Objectives.
- By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:
+ Use the words and phrases related to the topic Introduction.
+ Greet others and introduce themselves, using Hello/Hi. I’m + (name).
II.Language focus:
- Sentence pattern: Hello/ Hi. I’m + name.
- Vocabulary: hi, hello, I’m, nice to meet you.
III.Resources: Student`s book, pictures, recording, CD, …

1.Warm up.
- Greet the class by saying Hello. Encourage Ss to answer with Hello. Repeat the proceduce several times. Then introduce yourself to the class by pointing to yourself and say: I’m Mrs + your name. Go around the class and say your name to the different Ss. Help individuals respond with Hello. I’m + his/her name.
2.New lesson.
2.1.Look, listen and repeat.
- Tell Ss that they’re going to practise introducing themselves and responding to the introduction.
- Point to the 1st pic and elicit the answers of who the characters are. Show Ss how to find the answers by reading the text in the speech bubbles.
- Have Ss repeat the text in the bubbles a few times. Repeat the procedure with the 2nd pic.
- Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking.
- Play the recording for Ss to listen and say along.
2.2.Point and say.
- Tell Ss that they’re going to practise saying Hello/ Hi. I’m + name and responding to the greeting.
- Point to each character in the pic and elicit his/her name and the words to fill the gaps. Write the whole sentences on the board and have Ss repeat the sentences a few times. Repeat the procedure with the 2nd pic.
- Do choral and individual repetition, using the characters’ names as prompts, until Ss feel confident to say the sentences without their books.
+ Call an open pair to the front of the class to give a model practice for the class to watch. Correct the pronunciation, if necessary.
- Get Ss to work in pairs. Check as a class.
2.3. Let’s talk.
- Point to each character eliciting the name. Ask Ss to guess what the children say. Fill the gaps and write the sentences on the board. Have Ss to repeat the sentences a few times.
- Ask Ss to work in pairs to interact.
- Call a few pairs to act out the greetings and responses in front of the class. Correct the pronunciation, if necessary.
3. Reinforcement.
- Tell Ss to say Hello to their teachers or adults and Hi to their peers.

- Ss learn all the new vocabulary at home.

1.Warm up.
- Have Ss sing the song Linda’s got a little doll.
2.New lesson.
2. 3.Read and tick.
- Have Ss turn their books to p69 and ask them to identify the toys in the top pictures. Tell them that they’re going to read the text in the top frame, match the information to the appropriate picture and tick a box in the correct pictures. Give meaning of some.
- Ss read the text individually and do the task.
- Have Ss work in pairs to trade their answers for correction.
- Call on some Ss to report their answers. Others listen and give comment.
