Section B : Free time (4, 5, 6)
I- Objectives:
Competences
- “How often…?” questions and answers “One/twice/three times… a week” to talk about frequency of activities.
- Should be taught how to describe time tables.
- Should be practiced asking and answering the questions about what they do in their free time.
- Developing: four skills.
II- Language content:

+ How often does she go to school? -> She goes to school six time a week.

- Ask some questions
- Answer the teacher’s questions.
What do you do in your free time?
Presentation:
- Introduce the new words.
- Set up new situations to introduce the adverbs of frequency: once, twice…
- Explain how to use these adverbs and give example.
- Introduce the new structures.
- Listen to the teacher.
- Notice the usage of the adverbs of frequency.
- Try to give some examples as the teacher does.
- Listen and write.
- Practice.
New words:
- often (adv): thường
- How often…? Có thường
- once = one time: 1 lần
- twice: 2 lần
- three times: 3 lần
- week (n): tuần
- activity: hoạt động
- diary (n): nhật ký
Structures:
- How of ten do you go to school?
-> I go to school five times a week.
Practice:
- Explains the aims and the requirement of the exercise. Ask SS to listen to the cassette and match the names with the letters of the pictures.
- Show the pictures to the students before letting them listen to the cassette.
- Let them listen to the cassette and do their exercises.
- Let them talk to their partner.
- Ask some SS to check whether they do the exercises correctly or not.
- Let them listen again.
- Call some SS, ask them to give the answers and tell them the keys to exercises.
- Use charts describing Ly’s diary to introduce her activities.
- Practice in pairs, asking and answering about her activities following the models given.
- Call some SS and check their answers.
- Ask SS to tell about themselves, use “how often…?”
- Let them take notes.
- Ask SS to write 5 sentences about their activities.
- Listen to the teacher.
- Listen to the cassette.
- Match.
- Practice in pairs.
- Listen to the cassette and do their exercises.
- Talk to partners to make sure that the exercise is done perfectly.
