Period 2 UNIT 1: MY NEW SCHOOL
Lesson 1: Getting started
I. Objectives:
1. Knowledge :
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
- recognize and memorize some lexical items about school things (calculator, compass, uniform,....);
- list the things around the class ( tables , chairs , black board , fans , ....)
- use some verbs (go, wear, have ) to tell about school activities.
2. Competences:
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
- develop independent working and self- study skills through individual activities to do the tasks (check T/F, fill in gaps, match words with pictures, write the names of things about school things)
- develop communication and collaboration, problem solving and creativity skills through pair-work and group-work activities to practice the dialogue and taking part in the class activities.
- develop linguistic competence through listening, understanding and using English to talk about school things in class.
3. Qualities:
By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
- show their love and responsibility for their school by talking about it with positive attitudes.
- be conscious of preserving and using school things properly.
- be aware of preparing school things carefully before going to school.
- be always ready for sharing school things with their friends.

Brainstorming game:
- T divides the class into 2 teams
- T introduces the rules of the game:
+ Each member of a a team will write one name of the school object on the board in turn in two minutes
+ The team with more correct and faster answers is the winner
- Ss play in 2 teams
- T announces the winner
- T checks students’ understanding of the words and lead-in the lesson

2. Listen and read (10 minutes)
To introduce the topic of the unit and the vocabulary of the unit.
Elicit the dialogue
- T has ss look at the picture in the book page 6 and asks them some questions about it:

. Who are they ?
. Who is Phong ?
. Who is Duy ?
. Where are Vy and Duy now ?
. Where will they go ?
- T elicits new words
- T plays the Audio for students to listen and repeat
- Ss practice the conversation in pairs
- Ss practice the conversation in pair in front of the class
. There are 3.
. They are Vy, Duy and Phong
. Phong is Vy’s friend.
. Duy is Vy’s new friend.
. They are at Phong’s home.
. They will go to their new school.
