- By the end of the lesson, students will be able to ask for explainations of events.

IV. Materials: Textbook, pictures in the textbook, tape.
V. Anticipated problems: The lesson may take time.
VI. Teaching steps:
1. Warm up: (5 minutes) * Teacher greets and checks the students’ attendance.
* Getting started. P.121
- Students look at the information about the people and say where these people should go on their visits to Viet Nam.
1. Tom likes swimming and sunbathing
2. David is interested in ancient cities.
3. Huckleberry likes mountain-climbing.
4. Oliver is keen on pottery.
5. Robinson is fond of crowded places
E.g:
- Tom liked swimming and sunbathing. Where should he go?
- Well he should go to Nha Trang. There are many beautiful beaches there.
- Yes, I think so.
Suggested answer:
- David should go to Hoi An.
- Huckleberry should go to Sa Pa.
- Oliver should go to Ha Noi and visit Bat Trang.
- Robinson should go to Ho Chi Minh City.
T. asks Ss some questions to elicit new lesson:

- Students predict where the statements are true or false.
I. New words:

- (to) yell: la hét
- (to) urge: giục, thúc giục
- (to) rub: cọ xát
- (to) separate: làm cho rời ra
II. Prediction:
1. Two team members take part in the water-fetching contests.
2. One person has to collect four water bottles.
3. The fire is made without matches or lighters.
4. Pieces of wood are used to make fire.
5. In the final contest, the team members taste the rice.
6. The grand prize is given to the team with the most points.

PRACTICE
(18 minutes)
* Listen and read:
- Students listen to the tape as they are looking at their books.
- Student practise reading the dialogue in pair and check if their predictions.
- Students correct the false statements.






- Students read the dialogue again and do the matching.





- Teacher elicits the model sentences.
- Checking understanding:
