Section C: HOW OLD ARE YOU?
Lesson 5: C 3- 4
I. OBJECTIVES:
Teaching aim: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to use question “How old are you?” to talk about age, introduce oneself to the others.
PREPARATIONS: Book, cassette player and tape

1.Warm - Up: (5’)
- Ask Ss to play game: “Slap the board”
3 5 7 9 11 13 15 17 19
- Ask Ss to read out the numbers in English.
2. Presentation: (13’)
- Set the scene: There are three people in the picture.
- Give new words:
+ This is…..
+ How old…..?
+ years old:
- Have Ss practice the new words.
- Ask Ss to listen to the tape and repeat.
- Introduce structure:
How old are you?
( I am (I’m) ………
3. Practice: (15’)
- Have Ss practice the dialogue in pair.
- Call some pairs to practice in front of class.
- Give model, explain the underlined words to be changed in the dialogue.
Nam: Hi, Ba.
This is Phong
Ba: Hi, Phong.
How old are you?
Phong: I’m twelve.
- Ask Ss to make similar dialogue in pairs.
- Call some pairs to practice in front of class.
- Check the mistakes.
4. Production: (10’)
- Divide the class into small groups of three students.
- Have Ss practice, give examples.
Lan: Hi, Hoa. This is Nga.
Hoa: Hi, Nga. How old are you?
Nga: I’m eleven.
- Let them play the roles.
- Ask some Ss about their ages.
5. Homework: (2’)
- Ask Ss to practice count numbers 0 – 20, ask how old people are.
Prepare next lesson- Unit 2: A1, 2/ p. 20.
- Play game.
- Listen.
- Listen and write.
- Repeat after the teacher.
- Listen to the tape.
