GETTING STARTED & LISTEN AND READ
I. Objectives
1. Knowledge, Skills, Attitude:
a. Knowledge:
- By the end of the lesson, Ss express their opinions about a problem, benefits of computers.
- Vocabulary: Related to “Computers”
- Grammar: Present perfect tense with already/ yet.
b. Skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing
c. Attitude: Ss will be educated about using the computer.
2. Capacity is formed and developed for students
- Self-learning capability.
- Communicative competence
- Cooperation capacity
II. Preparation
1. Teacher: lesson plane, book, color chalks, pictures, MP3
2. Students: books, notebooks, pen, ruler …
III. Students’ activities
1. Warm up (5’)

Content
- T presents the picture of a computer and give questions:
What is it?
Do you have a computer at home?
Can you use it?
Do you think it is helpful?
- Ss answer.
2. Knowledge formation activities (36’)
-T writes the topic on the board.
-T asks Ss to think of the topic and express their opinions.
-T collects Ss’ opinions and writes them on the board.
I. Getting started:
* Ss know some advantages of computer.
Make a list of how computer can help us.
Brainstorm
Computers can help us:
+ Save time …
Suggestions:
+ Computers help us learn interestingly.
+ Computers help us learn more quickly.
+ Computers are convenient/ easy for keeping/ sorting information.
+ Computer is very quick in giving answers to our questions.
-T sets the sense:”Nam and his father, Mr. Nam are talking about the problem of the computer they have just bought. What happens to the computer?”.Let’s come to lesson Listen and read to know this.
-T presents picture and introduces newwords.
-T reads the new words.
-Ss repeat in chorus, read in individual and give the meanings.
-T has Ss copy.
- T has Ss close their books.
-T puts the chart on the board and has Ss guess which statements are true and which are false.
-T calls on some pairs to give their answers.
-T asks Ss to open their books, read the dialogue on page 138/ listen to the tape.
-T has Ss work in pairs again to check if their guesses are right or not.
-T gives feedback and corrects.
-T has Ss copy the corrected sentences.
II. Listen and read
* Ss express their opinions about a problem, benefits of computers.

+ manual (n):(explanation/ realia)
(a book coming with a machine tells you how to use/ operate the machine)
+ connect (v):(hand gesture)
+ guarantee(n): (situation)
(The machine you buy at a shop will be under guarantee from 6 to 12 months)
+ socket (n):(picture/ realia)
* True/ False prediction.
1. The printer isn’t working.
2. Nam has already turned the computer on.
3. Nam knows how to connect a printer but he hasn’t connected it properly.
4. The manual helped them to find out the problem.
5. Mr. Nhat bought the computer in HCM City and it’s still under guarantee.
6. Mr. Nhat thinks the company wouldn’t do anything with his computer because it’s too far from his place.
