UNIT 5: ARE THEY YOUR FRIENDS?
Lesson 1: Part 1,2,3.

I. Aims
By the end of the lesson, Ps can:
- Use the words and phrases related to the topic Are they your friends?
- Introduce a friend, using This is my friend + (name)

II. Language focus:
* Sentences patterns: This is my friend + (name)
* Vocabularies: friend(S)

III. Teaching aids:
Text book, Picture, cassette, CD, workbook, puppets……

VI. Procedure.
A. Warm up:


Greet the class by saying Hello.
Spend a few minutes revising this is + name and who’s that? I’s (name) put the character cardson the board and Ps play a game of slap the board following the procedurein Activities Bank in the introduction. Finally, point to the pictures on the board respectively and ask Who’s that? Get half of the class with It’s + (name) and the rest of the class say Hello + (name). Draw pictures attention to the title of the unit and check comprehension. Have them repeat it once or twice










B. Main lesson
1. Look, listen and repeat:
Tell Ps that they are going to introduce their friends saying this is my friend + (name). Point to the first picture and elicit the characters name and what each one say.give feedback and have Ps repeat the text in the bubbles a few times. Repeat the procedure with the second picture.
Do choral and individual repetition. Pointing to the character speaking.
Play the recording for Ps to listen and say along


2. Point and say.
- Tell Ps that they are going to practise saying and responting to this is my friend + (name). Point to each character and elicit his/her name. Point to the picture and ask Ps to fill the gaps. Put all the sentences on the board and have Ps repeat each sentence.
Do choral and individual repetition, using the characters’ name.
Get Ps to work in pair. Check as the class


3. Let’s talk.
- Tell Ps that they are going to practise more with their friends. Point to each character and elicit the name he/she say ask Ps to fill the gaps in the bubbles put the sentences on the board. Have Ps repeat them a few times
Have Ps work in pairs or groups of three to do the dialouge, using the name of the characters or their own names. Go around to offer helpwith the pronunciation, if necessary
Call three Ps to act out the dialouge in front of the class.

C. Consodilation

Remind Ps to link the words This is…… when speaking

D. Home link:
Ps remember and introduce a friend with other friend. Use this is my friend + (name).

- Read and write the sentences

III. Teaching aids:
Text book, Picture, cassette, CD, workbook, puppets……

VI. Procedure.
A. Warm up:

Call a group of three to the front of the class to practice This is my friend +(name) and hello/hi +(name).Then have Ps sing the let’s count from one to ten song.. Read the Activities Bank in the introduction for more activities










B. Main lesson
4. Listen and tick:
Tell Ps that they are going to listen and tick the correct boxes.
Give afew seconds for Ps to look at the pictures.. Elicit the names of the characters in each picture. Ask Ps to guess what is happening in each picture.
Play the recording three times for Ps to listen, do the task and check their answers.
Get Ps to swap and check their answers before checking as a class.
