UNIT 13 : ACTIVITIES
LESSON 1 . A- SPORTS (1)
A. OBJECTIVES.
1.Knowledge :
- By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to know about the ten most popular sports which teenagers in the USA like best and know the names of some sports .
Language content.
Vocabulary :
- Words related to the topic sports.
Grammar :
- The simple present tense
- The simple past tense .
2. Skills: reading, listening, using the language.
3. Attitude:
- Be interested in playing sports.
B. MATERIALS:
1.Teacher: Textbooks, teaching plan, lap top.
2. Students: Textbooks, notebook, pen.

Greetings .
Ask Ss some questions such as :
+ Do you like playing sports ?
+ What sport do you play ?
+ When do you play …….?

+ What do you think about ………?

- Check meaning, introduce new active words related to the topic.
-Help Ss pronounce vocabulary accurately and fluently.

II.Activity 2: Pre-reading (13’)
1.Vocabulary
Introduce the situation of the lesson and ask Ss to look at the pictures then answer the questions :
What are they doing ?
Explain some new words :
+ Skate- boarding ( n ) : trượt ván.
+ Roller- skating ( n ) :trượt băng.
+ Roller- blading ( n ) : trượt băng.
+ Baseball ( n ) : bóng chày.
+ Surprising result ( n ) kết quả bất ngờ.
Have Ss read new words in chorus and individually .
Have Ss play a game : Slap the board .
2.Presentation dialogue:
Have Ss discuss in groups about the question : What sports do you think are the most popular in the USA ?
Call on some groups to give their prediction .
Call some Ss to give their predictions .


-Listen to T eliciting the words.
- Listen and repeat chorally/ individually, practice the words and copy down.












Play a game


Work in groups .


Give the prediction .




- Help Ss understand more about the content of the survey.

III. Activity 3. While - reading(15`)
1. Ckecking prediction.
Ask Ss to look at the books and listen to the tape then check their prediction .
Call on some Ss to give the answers .
Ask Ss to read the text in silent .
call on some Ss to read the text aloud .
2. Answering the questions
- run through the questions
Have Ss answer the question :
Is baseball your favorite sport ?
If not , what is your first choice?
Do you like table tennis?
Have Ss work in pairs asking and answering the questions .
Call on some pairs to practice in front of the class
- get feedback and ask Ss to write the answers in the notebooks


Look at the books , listen to the tape and check the prediction .
Give the answers .
Read the text in silent .
Read the text aloud .

IV. Activity 4. Post - reading (8`)
Take a class survey :
Have Ss work in groups asking their classmates what sport they like most .
Call on some groups to practice in front of the class .
Ask Ss to write the number of students who like each sport best, then complete the table in the notebooks .
