UNIT 13: ACTIVITIES
B. Come and play (B.1)
I. OBJECTIVES:
- Knowledge: Students will know about vocabulary and grammar such as:
*Grammar: The simple present / past tense, adjectives and adverbs, modal verbs: can, must, should, ought to
*Vocabulary: paddle, spare, ought to
- Skills: Reading, speaking skills
- Attitude: Ss will be able to use the modal verbs “can, should, ought to, must …” Make an invitation, and refuse an invitation using modal verbs.
II.PREPARATION:
- Teacher: Textbook, lesson plan, colored chalk.
- Student: Textbooks, workbooks and notebooks.
III.PROCEDURES:

2. Checking up the previous lesson:
T: Calls SS go to the board to write some new words
Ss: Remember and write it carefully

Content
*Warm up:
T: Asks Ss to look at the picture and answer the questions
+ Who are they?
+ What are they doing?
+ Do you like playing table tennis?
Ss: Think and answer
T: Introduces new part
*Activity 1
T:Introduces the situation of the dialogue and asks them to listen to the tape
Ss: Listen to the tape carefully
T: Explains some new words
Ss: Write and repeat the new words many times
T: Asks Ss to practice the dialogue and answer the questions
Ss: Work in pairs and find the answers
T: Calls Ss read the answers before the class and give correct answers
1. Listen. Then practice with a partner
* Newwords
- paddle (n) : vợt bóng bàn
- spare (a) : dư thừa
* Grammar: the model verbs
(can, could, should, must, ought to)
( S + M.V + V-inf
Ex: I can sing
She should drink a lot of water
Nam shouldn’t play games
Note:
- can/ could (có thể) ( chỉ khả năng
- should/ ought to (nên) ( khuyên bảo
- must/ have to (phải) ( chỉ sự bắt buộc
*Keys:
a. Nam must do his home work before he plays table tennis
b. Nam will be ready in a few minutes
c. Ba will finish this question for Math
d. He has 2 paddles
4.Consolidation:
T: Asks Ss to read the dialogue and answer the questions:
Does Ba like table tennis?
How about you?
- What do you usually do in your free time?
Ss: Think and answer quickly
T: Correct their mistakes
5.Homework:
- Learn new words and structure by heart
- Do exercises 1 in workbook
- Prepare part 2
