Lesson 1: A1,4.
I. The aims and objectives
1. Knowledge
a. Vocabulary:- Skate boarding, Roller- skating, Roller – blading, Baseball, Surprisingly Surprising result, To win the prize, Competition, Prize, Participant.
b. Grammar: Review the simple past tense and simple present tense .
2. Skills: Speaking, Writing, Reading, Listening
3. Living skill: Talking individually, in pairs, in groups
*Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to know about the ten most popular sports which teenagers in the USA like best and know the names of some sports . They will know how to change from adjectives to adverbs.
II. Preparation:
T: Lesson plan, tape , cassette , pictures .
Sts: books, notebooks,workbook.
III. The procedure
1. Warm up: 2ms Greetings“ Who’s absent today ? ”
2. Checking up: 5ms -Ask Ss some questions such as :
+ Do you like playing sports ?
+ What sport do you play ?
+ When do you play …….?
+ Who do you often play with ?
+ What do you think about ………? …………
3. New lesson: 35ms

A. Pre -reading:
1. Pre - teach voacabulary:
+ Skate boarding ( n ) :trượt ván (trans)
+ Roller- skating ( n ) :Trượt patanh
(loại giày có bánh ở 4 góc)
+ Roller- blading ( n ) :Trượt patanh
( loại giày có bánh xe dọc ở dưới đế giày)
+ Baseball ( n ) :bóng chày ( explain)
+ Surprising result df ( n ) : Kết quả đáng ngạc nhiên
+ Surprisingly ( adv ) :Ngạc nhiên
* Check vocabulary : Slap the board .
2. Pre - questions: - Look at the pictures then answer the questions :What are they doing ?
- Have Ss discuss in groups about the question : What sports do you think are the most popular in the USA ?
-Call on some groups to give their prediction .
B. While - reading:
-Ask Ss to look at the books and listen to the tape then check their prediction .
- Call on some Ss to give the answers .
- Ask Ss to read the text in silent .
- Call on some Ss to read the text aloud in pairs.
- Correct the pronunciation .
- Have Ss work in pairs to ask and answer the questions .
What is the most popular sport in the USA ?
Which sport is at 11th position ?
-Ask Ss to look at the picture and answer the question: what kind of sports in the picture ?
What is WFF? WTS?
- Call on some Ss to answer .
- Ask Ss to read the text and check the answer.
*Explain some new words to Ss.

+Participant ( n ) : A person who take part in the game .
-Have Ss read new words in chorus and individually .
-Ask Ss to read the text in silent .
He takes part in WFF.
His school team won the first prize , they were so happy and wanted to keep this activity .
One activity is a 5 walk to the beach on Sunday morning , and the other is walk- to – school day
It’s 5 km from school to the beach .
Wednesday is the WTS day .
f)Members living near school often take part in the WTS day.
-Ask Ss to copy down .
C. Post - reading: Take a class survey :
-Ask Ss to answer the question : What sport is the most popular in the class ?
-Ask Ss to write the number of students who like each sport best , then complete the table in the notebooks .
