Unit 1: Good Morning. How Are You?
Lesson 1
I. Objectives: After the lesson, students are able to:
- Greet someone formally.
II. Language contents:
- Vocabulary: morning, afternoon. evening.
- Grammar : Good morning, Miss Hien.
- Skills: Listening - Speaking
III. Teaching aids:
Teaching aids: puppets , recording.
Resources: student’s book ( p.6), workbook ( p. 5)

I. Warm up
- Have Ss play the game: passing ball to introduce themselves.
II. Presentation
1. Look, listen and repeat.
- Ask Ss to identify the characters.
Who is this?
Who are they?
- Have Ss listen and repeat the short conversation between Miss Hien and her pupils.
( twice)
- Have Ss play role to read the dialog in groups.
- Call some pairs to read the conversation.
- Check Ss’ understanding:
T: Good morning, class.
+ Encourage Ss to say:
Good morning, Miss Huong.
2. Look and say:
- Ask Ss t look at the pictures a, b, c and d on page 6 to name people in each picture.
- Play the recording, ask Ss listen and repeat in chorus.
- Ask Ss to listen again, repeat “ Good morning”
+ Clarify the meaning of the phrase word “ Good morning” and the word
“ morning ”
- Do the same with other greetings and parts of the day.
III. Practice:
- Have Ss work in pairs to play roles
- Do as an example with picture a.
T: Good morning, Nga.
S1: Good morning, Mr Loc.
- Call some pairs to practice speaking
IV. Production
- Ask pupils to open their students’ books on page 7.
- Ask them to look at pictures and say the names of the characters.
- Ask then to identify parts of the day.
- Have Ss listen to the recording and tick the correct answers.
- Play the recording and ask Ss to listen and tick.
- Play the recording again and ask Ss to listen and check their answers.
- Have Ss give the answers and correct.
V. Conclusion and homework
- Ask Ss to do Ex A,B at home.
- Play the game.

- Identify the characters.
