GETTING STARTED + LISTEN AND READ
I. Objectives
1. Knowledge, Skills, Attitude:
- By the end of the lesson, Ss know more about activities and life in the countryside.
+ Vocabulary: Related to the countryside.
+ Grammar: - Present progressive tense.
- Past simple tense.
- Listening, speaking, reading and less writing.
- Ss will be educated about keeping the countryside clean and beautiful.
2. Capacity can be formed and developed for students
- Self-studying capability.
- Cooperation capacity.
- Communication competence
II. Preparation
1. Teacher: lesson plane, book, color chalks, pictures, cassette and tape
2. Students: books, notebooks, pen, ruler …

1. * Warm-up “Questions” 5’
Teacher’s and students’ activities
Content
- T asks, Ss answer the questions.
a. How is life in the countryside? Noisy or quiet?
b. What activities do people often do in the countryside?
Now we take a trip to the countryside.
2. Knowledge formation activities (37’)
- T introduces the topic.
- T reads the requirement and explains.
-Ss listen to teacher’s explanation.
- T hangs the pictures and gives example with picture 6.Then helps Ss remember vocabularies about these activities.
- Ss ask and answer about these activities in pairs.
- Some pairs of Ss ask and answer about these activities before the class.
- T checks and corrects the mistakes if necessary.
- T asks, Ss answer the questions.
1. Getting started
* Ss talk about the activities in the countryside.
Work with a partner. Look at the pictures and take turns to talk about activities in the countryside.
Ex : Picture 6
What is a man doing?
A man is plowing with his buffalo.
Activities :
watering the vegetables
swimming
feeding the chickens
harvesting (the farmers are harvesting)
feeding the pigs
plowing in the field
A buffalo boy is flying his kite.
Some children are playing football.
Questions :
- Have you ever seen or done these activities?
- Which activity do you like best?
- Do you think the countryside is a wonderful place for someone to take a trip?
- Have you ever taken a trip to the countryside?
- If yes, How did you get there? (by bus, by motorbike, by motorboat ? )
- T introduces the content of the text.
- T gives Ss some questions before listening.
- T plays the tape once.
- Ss listen to the tape and try to find the answers.
- T calls Ss to answer the questions.
- T hangs the picture and introduces new words.
- Ss practice reading new words.
- Ss look at the picture and get the meanings of new words.
- Ss write down new words in the notebooks.
- T calls Ss to read new words and the text in order to check and corrects their pronunciation.
2. Listen and read
* Ss know the picnic in a countryside and complete the execises.
“Ba’s trip to his home village’’
Questions:
- How did they travel?
- What did they see on the way to the village?
* While-listening and reading
New words :
- home village ( n ) làng quê
- bamboo forest ( n ) lũy tre, rừng tre
- banyan tree ( n ) cây đa
- entrance ( n ) lối vào
- foot of a mountain ( n ) chân núi
- shrine ( n ) miếu thờ, điện thờ, am
- hero ( n ) anh hùng
- river bank ( n ) bờ sông
- T explains the requirement of exercise a.
- Ss read the text in silence and do the exercise individually.
- Ss compare the answers in pairs.
- T calls some Ss to give the answers before the class in order to check and correct the mistakes if necessary.
- Ss copy down the correct answers.
