I. WARM UP (5 minutes)
* Game: “Pass the teddy bears”
Hello. I'm (Ben). / Hi, (Ben). I'm (Mai).
How are you? / - Fine, thank you.
+ Objectives: To help the students review the
sentence patterns about greeting each other and
responding to each other's greetings with
thanks.
+ Procedures
- Tell students how the game is played. Give an
example.
- Give two different colored teddy bears to two
students, a white teddy bear (greet and ask the
question) and a black teddy bear (greet and
answer the question).
- Ask students to listen to music and pass the
balls.
- Stop music suddenly.
- Have the student with a white teddy bear greet
and ask a question. Have the student with a
black teddy bear greet and answer the question.
e.g. Student A: Hello. I'm Nam.
Student B: Hi, Nam. I'm Mai.
Student A: How are you?
Student B: Fine, thank you.
- Praise students if they do the activity well.
- Tell students what they will learn in this

- Have students look at Pictures a and b and
identify the characters in the pictures by asking
some questions.

recording for them to listen.

both bubbles a few times.
- Repeat Step 3 with the other pictures. Then let
students practise asking and answering

- Sing the song “How old are you?” with the correct pronunciation and melody.

I. WARM UP (5 minutes)
* Game: “Jump or clap”

+Objectives: To help the students review the
vocabulary about the numbers.
+ Procedures
- Explain how to play the game. Give an
example.
- Ask students to stand at their desks.
- Hold up a flashcard from the vocabulary set
and say a word.
- If the word is the same as the flashcard, they
clap. If it isn't, they jump. Ask them to say the
word on the flashcard.
- Tell students what they will learn in this
lesson.
II. ACTIVITY 1 (8 minutes)
* Listen and number. (Track 20)
+ Objectives: To help the students listen to and
understand four communicative contexts in
relation to ask and answer questions about ages
and number the correct pictures.
+ Procedures
- Ask students to look at the pictures and
identify the numbers on the cakes.
How many pictures are there?
What can you see in each picture?
- Play the recording for students to listen all the
way through.
- Play the recording again for students to
number the correct pictures.
- Get students to swap their books with a
partner and then check answers as a class.
Write the correct answers on the board.
- Play the recording the third for the students to
double-check their answers.
- Extension: If time allows, play the recording,
sentence by sentence, for the class to listen to
