- Let sts retell the form of the second conditional sentence
- Sts tell what they’ve already got it
- Give the examples to sts and aks them to tell its use
- Sts copy them in their notebooks
- Get sts to complete the sentences with the right form of the verbs in brackets
- Sts work and then exchange their answers with a partner’s
- Ask sts to answer
- Sts write their answers out on the board
- Correct mistakes (if having)
- Let sts use the form of conditional type 2 to rewrite the sentences
- Sts get the sentences and practise rewriting them
- Walk around to check and help sts

2. Second Conditional
a. Form (Dạng)
If – clause

Past subjunctive
(S + V-ed/2)
Future in the past
(S + would + V-infinitive)
- Trong đó: Past subjunctive tense(Thì quá khứ giả định) có dạng giống Thì quá khứ đơn (Simple past), trừ động từ To be, có một dạng duy nhất là WERE.
b. Use (Cách dùng):
* Câu điều kiện loại 2 là câu dùng để diễn tả một điều kiện không thật hay không thể xảy ra ở hiện tại.
Ex: If he were here now, he would help us.
If I had enough money, I would buy this car.
* Exercise 1. Complete the sentences with the correct conditional form of the verbs in brackets
1. If you (speak)……… to your parents, I’m sure they’d understand.
2. She won’t be able to buy it unless you (lend)……….. her some money.
3. If he (find)………. a better job, he’d be happier.
4. Don’t buy it if you (not, like)……………. it.
5. If I inherited a fortune, I (not, work)…………….
6. If today (be)…………… Sunday, I would not have to work.
* Exercise 2. Rewrite these sentences, using conditional type 2.
1. I can’t bathe in this part of river because the water is too dirty.
