I. Objectives:
+ By the end of the unit, Ps can:
- Use the words and phrases related to the topic Meeting people.
- Greets and respond to greetings formally, using Good morning/ good afternoon/ Good evening/ Nice to see you again.
- Say and respond to good bye, using goodbye/ bye/ Good night and See you tomorrow/ See you later.
- Pronounce the sounds of the letter L and N in the words Linda and night respectively.
Language note: Hello/ Hi is used to greet each other in an formal way.
Good morning/ good afternoon/ Good evening is used to to greeting each other formally.

Warm up (5’)











Look, listen and repeat (10’)











Greet the class by saying HELLO/ HI, How are you? Ask Ps to respond with Hello/ Hi I’m fine thank you and you? Encourage Ps to greet each other in pairs.
Have the whole class sing the “Hello” song – Tieng Anh 3- Unit 1.
Get Ps to open the book on page 6 and read the title. Ask them to look at the 1st 4 pictures and explain the context of the lesson. (Ps meet their teacher again after holidays)

Tell Ps that they are going to learn to greet and respond to greeting formally.
Have them to look at 4 pics to discuss the context in which the language is used. Ask them Qs: Who are they?
Where are they?/ What are they talking about?
- Play the recording a few times for Ps to listen and repeat. Do choral and individual repetition. Pointing to the characters speaking.
- Play the record again for Ps to listen and repeat.

Sing the “Hello” song.

The Ps greet Ms Hien formally in the classroom.
Ms Hien respond to her Ps’ greeting using Nice to see you again.
Ms H and her Ps greeting each other.

Tell ps that they are going to practise greeting and responding to each other formally by using Good morning/ good afternoon/ Good evening.
Have them look at the pics to understand how the context is used in different contexts. Point to the 1st pic and elicit the formal greeting used in the morning. Ask them to say the phrase chorally and individually then tell them to practise greeting and responding to greetings in pairs, using the prompts in the bubbles.
Repeat the same procedure with the rest of the pics.
Call a few pairs to act out the dialogue in front of the class. Check as a class and correct pronunciation, if necessary.
