The Weather (Lesson 3)
I. Objectives: After the lesson the students will be able to:
Ask and answer about the weather
II. Teaching aids:
Teacher’s aids: Student’s and teacher’s book, flashcards, recordings, puppets.
Students’ aids: Books, notebooks, workbooks.

1. Warm-up: (5’)
Ask Ss recite the chant on Page 44, Lesson 2
2. Presentation: (13’)
Task 1: Listen and repeat.
Have turn to page 46 of the Student Book
Ask them to identify the weather photo and the weather icon
Tell Ss that they are going to hear two speakers talk about the weather in Ha Noi
Play the recording
Play the recording again for Ss to listen and repeat each line
Ask a few question to ensure Ss’ comprehension of language
Play the recording again for the whole class to repeat each line of the dialogue to reinforce their pronunciation
Task 2: Present the new words and sentences pattern.
Introduce the new words:
shinning
flying
Read and ask Ss listen and repeat the news words a few times.
Ask Ss read in groups
Ask Ss read in pairs
Introduce the sentences:
What’s the weather like in ……… today?
It’s……………………………
Explain the sentence
Ask Ss write the sentences in their notebook
3. Practice: (10’)
Task 3: Work in pairs.
Divide the class into three groups
Ask Ss work in pairs to read the dialogue
Call on some pairs read in front of class
Task 4: Look and say
Have Ss look at the pictures a, b, c and d on Page 46
Tell them identify the weather icons and the photo
Tell Ss that they are going to practice asking and answering, using these sentences patterns
Have Ss repeat each line in the bubbles a few time
Pairwork: ask Ss practice asking and answering, using the pictures in their book
Call on some pairs to perform the task at the front of the class
Observe and give comments
Have whole class repeat the phrases practiced in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation
