I. General description
Class profile: pre-intermediate
Aims: practice asking about and expressing preferences
Target language /skills: use and substitute preferences, practice speaking
Assumed knowledge: students have learned asking and giving opinions
Anticipated problem: students may not have flexibility in using the phrases
Possible solution: T goes around, comes to each group and gives more help
Materials: handouts, projector,board.
Time guide: 30 minutes

T asks ss two questions:
Would you like to watch Finding Nemo or Tom and Jery?
Do you prefer to see a movie or go to a club?
Do you like city or country?
T guides ss to a new point in the lesson.
T shows some examples about new sentence structure on the sreen.
T explains and says how this sentences use for ss.
Asking: *Would you rather (have )…?
* What’s your preference: …?
*What do you prefer:…?
Expression: *I prefer…
*I’d rather (have)…

T gives handouts for ss.
T asks two students to read the conversation for the class. After that, T chooses some pairs to read the conversation with some alternate expression.
T asks ss to work in pairs. Have them practice the conversation each other and take turns.

T asks ss to work in pairs. T delivers each group an envelope which contains a topic ss will have to do.
Student practice the conversation with a partner by using expressionss have learned to ask and express preferences.
T invites some pairs to perform their work.

T divides class into groups of four.
T delivers ss the handout.
T gives the instructions to the ss. One ss will ask partners about their travel preferences. They will write notes in the chart. After that, they use this information to plan a trip together.
T invites some groups present their trips.
Ss receive the envelope and open it.

Ss work with a partner.

Ss stand up to present their conversation.
