Part A: READING
I. Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
Knowledge
Have a general idea of the lesson as well as enrich their knowledge in the field of space and spacecraft; how human conquered the space.
Improve their reading skills (skimming, scanning, deducing, time reading…)
Vocabulary: orbit, lift off, cosmonaut, weightlessness, gravity, psychological tension.
Skill
Reading for specific information about space conquest.
Attitude and competencies
Improve such competencies as: pairwork, groupwork, communication, presentation.
Ss will be aware of the importance of space and dream to explore it.
II. Teaching Aids: cassette player, textbook, board . . .
III. Anticipated problems and solutions:
Ss may not know much vocabularies about space, so teacher should be ready to help them

WARM UP (5’)
Match name of the people to the pictures and answer some questions.
Show some pictures and get Ss to match name of the people to the pictures and answer some questions
QUESTION
Who was the first human to fly into space?
Who were the first humans to set foot on the moon?
Who was the first Vietnamese to fly into space?
ASNWER
Yuri Gagarin was the first human to fly into space.
Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first humans to set foot on the moon.
Pham Tuan was the first Vietnamese to fly into space.
LEAD-IN: they are some people who fly into space. Today, we are going to learn more information about Yuri Gagarin.
