Preserving the natural environment
I. OBJECTIVES:
By the end of the lesson, students (Ss) will be able to :
1. Knowledge:
- Teaching Ss listen to instructions on how to protect the natural environment.
2. Skills
- Listening and doing the tasks.
- Developing the listening skills for specific details.
3. Attitudes
- Ss can know some positive ways to protect the natural environment.
II. PREPARATION
1. Teacher
- Teaching aids: textbook, lesson plan
- Teaching method: The whole lesson: Audio – lingual.
2. Students
- Reading through English Unit 9 - Listening at home
III. PROCEDURE
1. Activity 1: WARM-UP (4 minutes)
- Teacher gives Ss a game “Catch the word”
- Teacher explains the rule and make sure that all of Ss got it
- Ss will have to look at the slide and try to guess the names of types of pollution.
- Teacher chooses some Ss to give their answers.
- Teacher shows the correct answer.
- Teacher leads to the lesson.

2. Activity 2: Vocabulary (4 minutes)
Goal: To provide and check Ss’ comprehending of some vocabularies to help them more easily in listening.
- Teacher shows new words and teach their meanings and pronunciations. Ask Ss to listen and repeat each word.
* New words:
Degraded /dɪˈɡreɪdid/ (adj) giảm sút chất lượng
Erosion /ɪˈrəʊʒn/ (n) sự xói mòn
Aquatic / əˈkwætɪk / (adj) ống ở nước
Awareness /əˈweənəs/ (n) sự nhận thức
Sewage /ˈsuːɪdʒ/ (n) chất thải
- Teacher has Ss check their pronunciation and mistakes.
3. Activity 3: Listen. Tick the words you hear. (7 minutes)
Goal: To listen to specific information on how to protect the natural environment.
- Teacher asks Ss to take a look eight words before they hear.
- Teacher guides Ss know its pronunciation.
- Teacher plays the recording and have students do the activity.
- Teacher asks Ss to compare their answers with partners.
- Teacher checks their answers by calling one go to the board and write down answers.
- Teacher plays the recording again if many students in the class have incorrect answers, pausing at the places where they can get the correct information.
