Lesson 1.1 (page 6)
1. Objectives
By the end of this lesson, students will be able to point out and say different animals.
Language knowledge and skills
Vocabulary: snake, monkey, horse, camel, hippo, rhino.
Sentence pattern: This is a monkey. - These are monkeys.
That's a snake. - Those are snakes
Skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
1.1. Competences
Self-control and independent learning: point out and say different animals.
Communication and collaboration: work in pairs or groups to know different animals.
Critical thinking and creativity: learn how to know different animals and spell them
correctly and fluently.

Kindness: support their friends to complete the learning tasks or play the games.

2. Teaching aids and materials

3. Procedures
A. Warm up (5 minutes)
a. Objectives: To review the vocabulary items about the animals, generate students'
interests and lead in the new lesson.
b. Content: Playing the game: “Lucky number” or “Spin the Bottle”.
c. Expected outcomes and assessment
- Task completed with excellence: Students can join the game and say the words quickly
and correctly.
- Task completed: Students can get lucky number and say the words.
- Task uncompleted: Students say the wrong flashcards or pronounce the words
incorrectly.

Option 1: "Lucky number" game
- Divide the class into four teams.

- Have each team stand in a line.
- Prepare some cards with points on their backs
“duck, goat, pig, cow, rabbit” and put them in a
box.
- Have each student pick a card from the box and
talk about the content of it, e.g., “What's it? – It's
a goat.” then get corresponding points for his/her
team.
- Continue with the other students. The team that
gets the most points win.
Option 2: Play “Spin the Bottle” game
- Divide the class into the groups of five.
- Have students sit in a circle with a bottle in the
middle. One student spins the bottle. When it
stops, the student who is pointed to has to say,
“Excuse me, please!” then continue spinning the
bottle.
- Have students continue the game as the same
way.
- Follow and do as guided.
- Pick a card from the box and talk
about the content of it, e.g.,
“What's it? – It's a goat.”
- Follow and do as guided.
- Join the game.
