LESSON C: LISTENING
I. Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:
- get more information about Cuc Phuong National Park.
- listen and find the main words about location, numbers to fill in blanks and decide the sentences true or false.
- use vocabulary and knowledge to ask and answer the questions about Cuc Phuong National Park.
- improve their listening and speaking skill.
II. Language focus:
1. Vocabulary:
- threatened and endangered species; ethnic minority; flora; fauna; attack; enemy.
- Vocabulary on nature.

- Listening: Students will be able to listen and find out necessary information to fill in blanks.
- Speaking: They will be able to answer the questions and use some information to talk about national parks.

- T divides class into two groups.
T asks the leader of each group togo to the board and write name of animals in one minute.
T check the answers with whole class.

- T: Whole class, look at the picture in your books at page 115, this is Cuc Phuong National Park. And now, I will give you some new words.
- T gives new words in the sub-board and hang it on the black board.
- T asksSs to listen and repeat the new words before explain the meaning.
- T explain and give the meaning.
Fauna (T uses a picture to describe)
Flora (T explain: all the plants of a particular are)
Ethnic minority (T gives example: they are people who live in mountains, such as Muong, Thai, Kho-me, E-De, Tay, Cham,…)
Threatened and endangered species (translate into Vietnamese: các loài bị nguy hiểm và đe dọa)
Attack (use a picture)
Enemy (translate into Vietnamese: kẻ thù)
- T asks 2 Ss to repeat the words.
Task 1:
- T: You are going to listen a passage about Cuc Phuong National Park in Vietnam. Try to listen and fill the missing information in blanks.
- Before listening, T asks Ss to guess the missing information.
- Helps them know the kinds of word suitable with each blank.
1. time, in + number of year;
2. number + locate;
3. nearly +number;
4. there are + number;
5. its + noun.
- T asks Ss to find the key words of each sentence.
- T underlines the key words.
- T plays the tape, asks Ssto listen carefully and fill in the blanks.
- T asksSs to compare the answers with the partner.- T calls 2 Ss to speak aloud their answers.
- T plays the tape again, checks with whole class and gives the answers on the board.
- T gives feedback.

- T: Whole class, I have one exercise for you. Now listen again and choose T(true) or F(false).
- T gives the exercise on the sub-board.
- T asks Ss to work in groups of four, listen again and choose T or F with the following sentences.
- T plays the tape again.
