B. Speaking

I. Objectives:
1. Education aim: Students should know how to ask and answer about the music, their favourite kinds of music.
2. Knowledge:
By the end of lesson:
- Students will be able to ask and answer the questions about music.
- Talk about favourite kinds of music.
3. Skill: Help students to feel confident to express their ideas about what they like or dislike.
II. Teaching aids: Students’ book, notebook, projector, chalk, board, laptop.
III. Anticipated problem
Students may not have enough vocabulary to talk about the topic, so teacher should be ready to provide help.

WARM UP (5’)

- Greeting
- Playing game: “Jumbled Words”
Instruction: There are 5 words which refer to 5 kinds of music. They are jumbled so you have to rearrange them to make correct words.
- Teacher gives instructions; students listen to the instructions.
- Teacher shows the jumbled words:
1. ZAZJ 4. CROCK
2. LOFK SIMCU 5. SLICCAALS MICUS
3. OPP CUMIS
- Students rearrange words.
- Teacher calls students to give their answers. Then, teacher checks and gives correct answers.
Answers:
1. JAZZ 4. ROCK
2. FOLK MUSIC 5. CLASSICAL MUSIC
3. POP MUSIC
BEFORE SPEAKING (13’)
- Teacher teaches some new structures:

1. Keep sb happy = make sb happy: làm cho ai vui.
2. Cheer sb up = make sb exicted: làm cho ai phấn chấn, vui vẻ lên.
3. Easy to listen to: dễ nghe.

Task 1: Answering questions based on the reading text.
Instruction: You are going to read what Ha Anh says about music. Work in pairs to answer the questions.
- Students listen to the instruction.

- Students listen to the teacher, take note the new structures.
- Teacher asks students to work in pairs to answers the 4 questions in the book.
- Students work in pairs to answer the questions.
- Teacher goes around to observe students’ working.
- Teacher asks some pairs to present their answers.
- Students give their answers.
- Teacher gives feedback and correct answers:

1. She likes pop music.
2. Because it keeps her happy.
3. The Backstreet Boys.
4. She listens to music all the time.

WHILE SPEAKING (15’)
Task 2: Asking and answer about the music taste.
Instruction: You are going to work in group of three to get the information to complete the table.
- Students listen to the instruction.
- Teacher gives some sugguested questions to students:

+ What kind of music do you like?
+ Why do you like it?
+ What is your favourite band/ musician?
+ What is your favourite song/ piece of music?
+ When do you listen to music?

- Teacher makes model with 1 student.
- Students work in groups and pratice asking and anwering to get information to complete the table.
- Teacher goes around observing, offering help.
- Teacher asks some groups to present their works.
- Teacher corrects mistakes and gives feedback.

AFTER SPEAKING (10’)
Task 3: Reporting the information.
Instruction: Now report what you have found out about your partners.
- Students listen to the instruction.
- Before students report, teacher elicits the structures they can use:

+ Both A and B like… They like it because…
+ A likes…, but B prefers…

- Students prepare for reporting.
- Teacher goes around observing, offering help.
- Teacher calls on some students to report what they have found out about their partners.
- Teacher corrects mistakes and gives feedback.

HOMEWORK (2’)
- Learn by heart new words, structures.
- Teacher asks students to write a paragraph talk about the kind of music they like.
