Unit 3: MUSIC_Reading skill
Class description:
30 students: 10 girls, 20 boys.
10A5, Cao Ba Quat high school.
Time:45minutes.
Objectives:
After the lesson, Ss will be able to:

Know more about the music show in Vietnam and in the world.
Language:
Know the vocabulary about music show.
Skills:
Use the word and phrases related to music
Skim for general ideas and scan specific information TV shows.
Guess the meaning of a word on context.
Skim and scan information.
Find the key word and main ideas.
Attitude:
Be more confident in performing shows.

Warm-up
(5 mins)
Activity 1: What`s your favourite TV show?
Aim: To motivate Ss.
Ask Ss to look at three logos and give the name of TV shows they belong to.
Call some Ss and ask the question: "What`s your favourite TV show? How do you feel about it?"
Look at three logos.
Answer the T.
Key:
P1: Pop idol
P2: Who wants to be a millionare?
P3: Vietnam idol
Pre-reading
Activity 2: New words
Aim: To get Ss prepare vocabulary to read.
Show the new words:
launch (v): giới thiệu, đưa ra
territory (n): lãnh thổ
smash hit (NP):thắng lợi, ăn khách
franchise (n): giấy phép cấp quyền.
Ask Ss to listen the audio and repeat.
Ask Ss to copy the new words into notebook.
Ask Ss to do exercise to checking vocabulary (see appendix 1)
Check the answers.

Activity 3: Reading the text
Aim:To get Ss comprehend the text.
Ask Ss to read the text in 3 minnutes.

(see task 4_page 29)
Aim: To get Ss to guess the meaning of words on the context.
Ask Ss to find and underline the words in the context.
Ask Ss to base on the context and choose the correct answer.
Check the answers.
Activity 5: Answering the questions.
(see Task 4_page 29)
Aim: Toget Ss read for and answer questions
Ask Ss to underline key words in each question.
Ask Ss to read and fine out the answer from the text.
Call some Ss give answers and ask them where they can find out the answer.

Activity 6: What`s the show do you like best?
Aim: To get Ss share their ideas
Divide class into 4 groups and give their name the same with their favourite show
Ask Ss to move to group which they are interested in.
Give each group 3 minutes to discuss about the show they choose and write down 5 sentences about the show.
Groups exchange their handout to read and remember. After 3 minutes, each group will present about other groups` TV show
Choose the favourite Tv show and move to the group.
Discuss in group
Present the answer.
