UNIT 12: HOW OLD ARE YOU ?
Lesson 1
I. AIMS:
- By the end of this lesson, students will be able to ask about ages.
- Develop speaking and writing skill
- Teaching student to ask and answer about ages.
II. TEACHING AIDS:
- Tape cassette, pictures, book, notebook, workbook.
III. PROCEDURES:
A. Checking- up:
- T check the student’s notebook.
- Comment.
B. New lesson:
a. Warm up: Let’s Ss chant in two groups. Which is more correct is the winner.
b. Presentation:
1. Look , listen and repeat.
- Ask sts to look at the pictures at page 12 and identify the characters and tell what they are going to listen to Mai and Tom talk about their ages .
- Play the recording for sts to listen .
- Play again for sts to repeat each line in the dialogue.
- Request Ss work in pair.
- Call some pairs perform the task.
- Offer help when necessary.
- Have whole class repeat all the phrases .
c. Production :
2. Look and say.
- Have sts to look at the pictures a and b , c , d , then ask them to identify charaters and their ages in the pictures .
- Recall how to ask and answer about ages
- Ask Ss what each character should say the fill the bubbles with the correct phrases.
- Call on 2 Ss to say the sentences.
- Get Ss to work in pairs .
- Get some pairs to ask and answer at the front of the class .
- Offer help when necessary.
- Have sts to repeat the phrases .
3. Talk.
- Have sts look at the pictures on Page 13 and ask them to identify the characters in the picture.
- Point to the picture and ask Ss what they should say to fill the speech bubbles .
- Fill the speech bubbles with correct phrases prompted by sts .
- Request Ss to repeat the sentences.
- Ask Ss to work in pair and practice asking and answering about their ages .
- Call on some pairs to demonstrate at the front of the class.
- Offer help when necessary.
4. Let’s chant..
- Play recording all the way through for sts to listen while they reading the chant.
- Guid Ss to read the chant.
