UNIT 13: HOBBIES
Lesson 2: Speaking
A. OBJECTIVES:
1. Educational aim: By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to:
-Ask for and give information about their hobbies
-Talk about their hobbies
2. Knowledge: Ss can make conversations and talk about collecting stamps.
3. Skills: Fluency in expressing the hobby
Integrated, mainly communicative

I/ Warm up:
- T shows some pictures and asks Ss to guess the name of these pictures.
- T can asks Ss to work in group or in pairs.
- T gives feedback.
Introduce the lesson
II/ Before you speak:
- T introduceS some new words for ss:
second–hand book stall: quầy bán sách cũ
pen–friends: bạn qua thư từ
classify (v):phân loại
landscape (n): phong cảnh
oversea (a):nước ngoài
exchange (v):trao đổi
hero (n): anh hùng
politician (n):nhà chính trị
broaden (v):mở rộng
regularly (adv):điều đặn, thường xuyên
category (n):hạng, loại
- T conducts repeatition.
II/ While speaking:
Task 1: Say which of the following you should like/ not like to do and why:
Ask Ss to work in pairs to ask and answer according to the model.
T can provide structure for Ss.
EX: * Useful structures:
I would like + to_infinitive BECAUSE …….
I would not/wouldn’t like + to_infinitive BECAUSE ……
Task 2: Lan is talking to Huong about her bobbies of collecting books. Practise reding their dialoge with a partner.
- Ask ss to read the dialoge.
- Ask ss to work in pairs to practise the dialoge
- Correct some mistakes when ss read the dialoge
- After reading, T asks ss to complete the dialoge with by filling the blank with the suitable words.
Task 3: Make a similar dialoge about collecting stamps:
Ask ss look through the suggestions in the text book.
Ask ss to work in pairs to make the dialoge
T asks ss to practice the task by asking them to read aloud their dialog, T can ask one or two group to perform their task in front of the class.
T corrects ss’ mistakes.
IV/ Post-speaking:
Talk about ss’ hobies
Ask ss to talk in individual
Homework: Write the dialoge on the book
V/ Comments:
Preparation: listening
Ask ss:
- Explain some new words before listening
- Find meaning of the Task 1 and 2
- Ss do the task which is set by T.
- Ss repeat the words chorally.
Work in pairs to ask and answer according to the structure which the T has given.
Read the dialoge one times and pick out some new words.
Work in pairs to practise the dialoge
Look through the suggestions in the text book.
Ss do as told.
Talk about in individual
Ss listen to T and write down.
