Part A: Reading (p.146)
I. Objectives: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Knowledge:
- Vocabulary: read, write and understand words and phrases used to talk abouthobbies
+ accompany (v) = to be/ go along with
+ accomplished (a)=well trained, talented
+ avid (a)= strong desire
+ modest (adj) = limited in size
+ discarded (adj)= unwanted
+ indulge in (v)
+ tune (n)
+ keep Sb occupied = keep Sb busy
+ admire ( v)= to regard highly, respect+ accompany (v)
- Language: use sentence structures, vocabulary to read the text, and talk about your hobbies
2. Skills:
- read for specific information
- guessthe words’ meanings in context
- workin pairs and groups
- present to the class.
3. Attitude and competencies:
- know more some basic information about hobbies.
- feel more interested in expressing their ideas about their hobbies.
II. Preparation:
- Teacher:
+ lesson plan
+ handouts
+ laptop
- Students: notebooks, pencils, pens, sub-boards.
III.Anticipated problems and solutions:
Students may have difficulty in understanding meaning of new words so the teacher should give the meaning.
Some students do not have their hobby to talk so the teacher should present several suggestions.

Part A: Reading(p.146)
NEW LESSON
I. Pre - reading: (6 minutes)
- Teacher asks students to work in pairs; students ask and answer some questions:
1. What do you like to do in yor free time?
- Teacher elicits some words in the text by using pictures and synonyms.
- Teacher asks students to read the words in chorus.
II. While - reading: (24 minutes)
1. Task 1: Match the words/ phrases in colum A with the correct definition in colum B

- Teacher asks students to read the requirement of task 1.
- Students scan the passage and underline new words in the text.
- Teacher asks students to match the words/ phrases with their definitions.
- Students do the task in pairs, and then match them
- Teacher asks students to report the results to the class.
- Teacher gives feedback.
2. Task2: Choose true, or false statements if there are falses then correct them.
1.The writer’s father taught him how to play the guitar.
2. The writer admires his uncle very much.
3. The writer can play guitar very well.
4. The writer’s mother doesn’t love watching fish.
5. The stamps collections are almost from abroad.
6. The writer keep both the common and less common inside the album
7. The hobbies really keep the writer busy.
8.The writer has mainly 3 hobbies.
- Teacher groups students into groups of 4 people and gives each group the handout to write the answers.
- Teacher exchanges the handouts to another group, and thenchecks the answers to whole class.
III. Post - reading: ( Group work 8 minutes)
