I. Aims :
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to:
Pronounce the clusters /pt/, /bd/, / ps/ and / bz/.
Pronounce the words and sentences containing these clusters correctly.
Use cleft sentences correctly to do the exercises and solve communicative tasks
II. TEACHING AIDS: textbook, board, chalk...
III. Anticipated problems
Students might have difficulty in pronouncing. So, teacher should be ready to assist them.

Warm-up(5 minutes):
- T provides to Ss some words and asks Ss to divide them into 4 groups have the same last sound.

Cleft sentences
- T provides to Ss the use and the form of cleft sentences.
It + be + focus + clause
1. Subject focus
It + be + Subject + who/that + V....
2.Object focus
It + be + Object + that + S + V
3.Adverbial focus
It + be + adverb + that + S + V
For example:
+ Subject focus:
The man gave me a book on the table. => It was the man who gave me the book on the table.
+ Object focus:
The man gave me a book on the table.
=> It was the book that the man gave me on the table.
+ Adverbial focus:
The man gave me a book on the table.
=> It was on the table that the man gave me a book.
Exercise 1:
-T asks Ss to do exercise 1 individually, paying attention to the subject of the sentence.
- T calls some Ss to answer come to the board and write down the answer.
* Expected answers:
1. It was the boy who visited his uncle last month.
2. It was my mother who bought me a present on my birthday.
3. It were Huong and Sandra who sang together at the party.
- T corrects answers.
Exercise 2
-T asks Ss to do exercise 2 individually, paying attention to the object of the sentence.
-T goes around and gives helps to Ss.
-T asks Ss to compare their results with others.
-T gives feedback and correct answers.
* Expected answers:
1. It is English that the man is learning.
2. It was the book that the woman gave him.
3. It was the postcard that she sent her friend.
