Lesson 2
I. Objectives: After the lesson, students are able to:
- Pronounce correctly the sound of the letters “ sch ” and “ str”.
- Listen and read for specific information.
II. Language focus:
- Vocabulary: street, village, class, grade, address
- Sentence patterns : - Where is …….…?
- It’ s in ………. Street.
- Phonics: the letters “ sch ” and “ str” .
III. Resources:
- CD and radio, student’s book , Workbook

I. Warm up
- Say greetings.
- Have Ss play the game:
Chinese whispers
+ Prepare a sentence.
+ Ask ss to stand in a line, give the first ss this sentence. He/she whisper it to the next ss.
+ Continue until the last one.
- Check and choose the winner.
II. Listen and repeat.
- Have Ss look at the picture in part 1.
- Let Ss pay attention to the letters coloured differently.
- Have Ss learn to produce the sound of the letters “ sch” and “str” .
- Play the CD and ask Ss to listen. Explain the meaning of the words go to school, fun.
- Play the CD again and ask Ss to repeat each line of the text in chorus.
- Have Ss read in groups/ in pairs.
III. Listen and number.
- Have Ss look at the pictures in part 2 to identify the school name and its address in each picture then set up the task.
- Have Ss listen and do the task.
- Have ss listen again to check.
- Call some Ss to write the answer on the board.
- Have ss retell what they have listened
IV. Read and complete.
- Have Ss look at part 3 and the table
- Set the task: Read and complete the table.
- Have Ss read and do the task.
- Call on one student to report the answer. The rest of the class listen and give comments.
- Have some pairs read aloud the text.
- Check understanding by some questions:
+ Who is this?
+ What is the name of her school?
+ Where is it?
+ How many rooms are there?
V. Reinforcement and homelink:
- Ask Ss to do exercises in C, D (WB) at home.
- Respond.
- Work in groups to play the game.
- Identify:
- Pay attendant.
- Listen.
- Listen and note.
- Repeat.
- Read in groups./ in pairs.
- Give out and check.
- Look, find and prepare.
- Listen and number the pictures.
- Listen and check.
- Write.
