LESSON PLAN
Unit 6: Gender equality
Lesson 7: Communication and Culture.
Class description:
The class includes 25 girls and 15 boys. Most of them are quite good at English, but someone is lazy and naughty. As for scheduling, class will meet three times a week for 45 minutes each. Our classroom will be equipped with a computer, internet, over head projector and black board.
Aims:
-Anable Ss to talk about achievements in addressing gender equality in Viet Nam
- Help Ss know about gender equality in Vietnam and in the United Kingdom.
- Improve their skimming and scanning skill in reading.
-Encouragee Ss take part in activities.
Time: About 45 minutes
Teaching aids: computer, internet, over head projector, speaker, video, black board,…...
Anticipate problems:
Ss might be weaker than T’s expected and therefore the reading text will be too difficult.
Ss might be get stuck with some new words while reading the text and therefore be unable to find answers to detailed questions
Ss might not understand T’s instructions.
Technology (computer/ projector) won’t be working.

-T shows some pictures about achievements in Viet Nam and in the United Kingdom in the screen.

2.Can you guess topic of the lesson today?
-T calls some Ss stand up andanswer these questions.
* Expected answers:

- T leads Ss in to the lesson.
Part I: Communication
Gender equality in Vietnam
*Task 1:
- T focus on the instructions and the pictures in textbook page 13.
- T informs Ss that they will have more chances to practise speaking.
- T requires Ss work individualy and gives them some time to read about the achievements Viet Nam has made in addressing gender equality (5 minutes).
- T gives Ss more freedom by allowing them to add more achievements from reliable sources.
- After 5 minutes, T calls some students stand up, read aloud statements in page 13 and add some more.
*Task 2:
- T requires Ss work in pairs again and talk about achievements in addressing gender equality in Vietnam, using the statements in task1 (5 minutes).

- After 5 minutes, T calls some pairs go to the board and talk in front of whole class.
- T gives feed back.
Part 2: CultureGender equality in United Kingdom
*Task 3:
- T focus on the instructions and the pictures in page 13.
- T elicits answers from Ss by asking the class questions like:
+ Who do you see in the pictures?
+ What is the man doing?Are there many men teaching young kids?
+What is the woman doing? Is her job popular with women?
Expected answers:
+ In picture 1, we can see a man among many childrens. In picture 2, we can see a woman with special uniform.
+ The man is teaching students.Yes, there are.
+ The woman is driving something like plane. No, its’nt.
- T gives Ss time to skimming the text about gender equality in the United Kingdom in page 13.(1 minute)
- After that, T asks: “Do you have any new words?”then pre-teach some words that might be new to Ss.
Vocabulary
