Lesson 4: Writing

I. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- know a filmdescription’s structure and how to write it
- expand the vocabulary normally used in a film description
- write a film description by reading a sample and using given information in their book
II. LANGUAGE CONTENTS:
Vocabulary normally used in a film description
III. TEACHING AIDS:
- Projector and screen;
- A2 and markers
- Blackboard and chalk.

Warm-up
- Let the class play the game “What film is it and its kind”
+Show the film’s poster on the screen
+ Ask students to guess the name of the film and its kind
- Lead into the new lesson
- Do as required

Before you write
- Present new vocabulary to students
*Task 1
- Show the film description in task 1 on the screen
- Ask students to read an d answer questions about the film description:
1. What is the name of the film?
2. What kind of film is Titanic?
3. What is it about?
4. Where is it made?
5. What is it based on?
6. Who is/are the main character(s)?
7. What do you know about the character(s)?
8. Does the film have a happy or a sad ending?
- Ask some students to speak out the answers and give clues
- Correct the answers and give marks
- Analyze the structure of the film description
- Give students steps and tips to write a film description
- Do as required
- Look at the screen
- Answer questions

1. It is Titanic
2. Titanic is a tragic love story film.
3. It is about the sinking of a luxury liner (ship) on its first voyage across the Atlantic Ocean.
4. It is made in America.
5. It is based on the true story of the Titanic disaster that occurred in 1912.
6. The main characters are Jack Dawson and Rose De Witt Bukater.
7. Jack Dawson is a young and generous adventurer.
8. The film has a sad ending.
