UNIT 10: ECOTOURISM
LESSON 1: GETTING STARTED

I/ Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
Knowledge: (3 basic levels: recognition, comprehension, application).
Vocabulary: read, write, and understand key words or phrases related to ecotourism.
Language: use structure, vocabulary to do task required.
Skills: Use the skill(s) corresponding to each part of the lesson to do follow-up tasks.
Attitude and competence:
Have a positive attitude towards what they have learnt.
Understand and actively respond to relevant matters or situations.
II/ Preparations:
Teacher: Handouts, textbook, pieces of papers and laptop.
Students: Textbook.
III/ Anticipated problems and solutions:
Ss may not be used to the way of skills and doing the tasks.
So prepare and explain carefully before asking them to do.

*1. Warm up: (5 minutes)
- T shows a video about ecotourism. After that Ss answer some questions.
- T asks Ss: “What did you see in the picture?”
“What are they called?”
- T leads in the topic of the lesson.


2. New lesson


1. Activity 1: (12 minutes)
a. Vocabulary:
- T shows some new words and explains the meaning of this word.

b. Listen and read
- T asks Ss to look at the map of Australia and the pictures, and guess what tourists can do there.
- T tells Ss that they are going to listen to a conversation at a travel agent’s.
- T plays the recording and asks Ss to listen as they read silently.
- Ss listen, read and answer the question.
2. Activity 2: (15 minutes)
- T asks Ss to read the questions once and ask if they need any explanation.
- T asks Ss to work individually to read and write the answer to the questions.
- Ss listen, answer teacher’s question and do activity 2.
- T organizes a game for the whole class: “Painter or paintment”: One of the Ss will choose one question and then Ssanswer the questions. If you have a right answer, you will be painting the picture
- T divides class into 2 teams.
- Ss listen and play.
- T checks Ss’ answers as a class. Have Ss note down the words in their notebooks.
- Ss listen and take note.
3. Activity 3:(5 minutes)
This activity introduces the grammar point: conditional sentences.
- T asks Ss to find the conditional sentences used in the conversation and write them in the space provided.
- Ss listen, answer teacher’s question and do task 3.
- T asks Ss go to the board and write down.
- Ss listen, do activity 3, go to the board and write down.
- T checks Ss’ answers as a class. Have Ss note down the words in their notebooks.
4. Activity 4: (5minutes)
This activity helps Ss to review the verb forms in conditional sentences that they have learnt previously.
- T asks Ss work in pairs, underline the verbs in both the main clauses and if-clauses.
