UNIT 4: OUR PAST
LESSON 4: WRITE
I. OBJECTIVES:
- After the lesson, students can write a paragraph to describe a story, and review the past simple.
II. PREPARATIONS: Textbook, sub-board
III. PROCEDURES:

1/ Warm-up: (7’)
Check old lesson
- Ask Ss to write the past form of some verbs.

- Remind the meaning, then lead to the lesson.

2/ Pre-writing: (13’)
( Activity 1:
- Introduce the story and give meaning of some new words by translation, pictures
I. Vocabulary:
1. stripe ( n ) : sọc, vằn
2. graze ( v ) : gặm (cỏ)
3. servant ( n ) : người phục vụ
4. master = boss ( n )
5. wisdom ( n ) : trí khôn, trí tuệ
6. rope ( n ) : dây thừng
7. straw ( n ) : rơm
- Check: Matching
( Activity 2:
- Have Ss read the story and complete in individual
- Repeat and read, then copy down.
- Do as directed.
- Read and complete.
3/ While-writing: (15’)
- Hang the cues on the board and have Ss make the story by oral.

One day, as I was in a field and my buffalo grazed nearby, a tiger came. It asked why the strong buffalo was my servant and I was its master. I told the tiger that I had something called wisdom. The tiger wanted to see it but I said that I left the wisdom at home that day. Then I tied the tiger to a tree with a rope because I didn’t want it to eat my buffalo. I went to get some straw and I burned the tiger. The tiger escaped, but today it still has black stripes from the burns.
- Do as directed.
- Work in groups of four.
4/ Post-writing: (8’)
- Call some students to retell the story.
- Retell the story.
5/ Homework: (2’)
- Have Ss:
+ Imagine they are the tiger, retell the story.
+ Prepare unit 4: Language focus
- Write assignments.
