By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to distinguish between the strong and weak forms of some conjunctions and prepositions
Revise relative clauses and used produced relative clauses
Materials: textbook, whiteboard markers…

I/ STRONG AND WEAK FORMS OF SOME CONJUNCTIONS AND PREPARATIONS.
Warm up ( 14 mins)
+ Hang on a chart with following sentences
+ Read the sentences and ask Ss to distinguish the strong form and weak form of the conjunctions ( and / but ) and the prepositions ( at / for / of / to / from ) in the sentences
+ Tell Ss to underline the words with strong form

+ Read aloud the sentencess and ask Ss to repeat
+ Give comment
* PRESENTATION
+ Give some rules how to distiguish between the strong and the weak form and ask Ss to take note
+ Elicit some rules to pronounce the conjunctions and prepositions in weak and strong forms.
PRACTICE
+Read the sentences on the page 70 in the textbook and ask Ss to repeat.
+ Ask Ss to practice reading the sentences
+ Call on some Ss to read aloud before the class
+ Make corrections if necessary.
II/ GRAMMAR (30 MINS)
A/ PRESENTATION
+ Ask Ss to revise the relative clause
+ Elicit how to reduce relative clause
Give example
Write three sentences with relative clauses on the
board
The girl who is talking to your sister is Alice
The house which was destroyed by the storm last night is being rebuilt
The book which I bought last week is about Africa
+ Revise the use of relative pronouns who/ whom/ which / that and whose in the sentences
+ Ask Ss to express the sentences in other possible ways
+ Elicit the ways to omit relative pronouns
B/ PRACTICE
+ Ask Ss to do the tasks
EXERCISE 1: SENTENCE COMPLETION
+ Tell SS to od the exercise and compare the results with their partners
+ Ask Ss to give the answers
+ Check with the class
EXERCISE 2: SENTENCE COMBINATION
+ Ask SS to join the sentences in two ways as shown in the exercise 2.
+ Call SS to read aloud the results
+ Check the answers with the class.
C / PRODUCTION
Relatively speaking
+ Prepare one set of picture cards for the class and cut them up.
+ Place the picture cards face down in a pile on the teacher’s desk.
+ Students play this game in group of fours or five . One student in each group , in turn , takes one card from the pile at random and shows it to his/ her group without letting the other groups know the card . Each group should give a definition of the word on the card, but without mentioning the name,
For example
This is the place where you go when you’re sick.

Tell Ss they can omit the relative pronoun if needed
One correct answer gets one point. The group with the most points is the winner.
