INTRODUCES THE SYLLABUS AND BOOK OF ENGLISH GRADE 3
I. OBJECTIVES:
1. Language focus/Knowledge:
- Vocabulary: names of characters of English book grade 3
2. Competences:
+ Remember and say some new words: names of characters of English book grade 3
+ Know the syllabus and books of grade English 3
+Know the names of the characters in the book.
3. Attitude/ Qualities:
-Actively participate in activities with their classmates in pairs, groups or class. Educate Ss to know about the syllabus and books of grade English 3; love to learn English.
II. TEACHING AIDS:
- Pictures, E- book, computer , projector, pictures, recording.

Activity 1:Warm –up: sing the song: Hello (5’)
*Aim:help ss to be eager and happy to begin the new lesson.
*Procedure:
-T play the recording of the song.
- T links to the new lesson.

Activity 2:Introduces the syllabus of English grade 3 ( 10’)
*Aim: help Ss to know about the syllabus of English grade 3
*Procedure:
- T asks ss to look at the bookmap of English book grade 3 and count how many unit.
- T introduces about the syllabus of English book grade 3
-The syllabus:
+Total weeks: 35 weeks/ two semester with 140 periods.
+ The first semester: 18 weeks with 4 period / a week. Total periods are 72 periods.
+ The second semester: 17 weeks with 4 period / a week. Total periods are 68 periods.
+ 20 unit + 4 review + 4 short story
*Outcome: Ss can know about the syllabus of English grade 3
Activity 3: Introduces the books of English 3 and the names of the characters in the book.(16’)
*Aim:help ss to know the book of English 3 and the names of the characters in the book.
*Procedure:
-Teacher asks ss to open the textbook and asks the ss some questions:
+What page can you see the book map?
+What page can you see the glossary?
+Where can you see the characters in the book?
+Where can you find the CD?
- T introduces about textbook of English book grade 3 and every part in each lesson
* The textbook: “TIENG ANH 3” has two student books
+ Each student book has 10 units. After 5 units has a review and short story.
+ Each unit has 3 lessons. Each lesson has 6 parts
- The names of character in the book:
+ Mr Binh, Mrs Binh, Nam, Hoa + Mr Thanh, Mrs Lan, Mai, Phong
+ Mr Brown, Mrs Brown, Peter, Linda
+Mr Green, Mrs Green, Tom, Mary
+ Nga, Quan, Tony, Linh
+Miss Hien, Mr Loc.
- T asks ss to read the name of each part in each lesson in pairs for 2 minutes.
-T goes around and offer help, if necessary.
- Call some ss read in front of the class.
-T checks and corrects their pronunciation, if necessary.
-T introduces the main characters in this textbook by using the puppets to introduce the name of the characters one by one.
-Have time for ss to practise.
-T goes around and offer help, if necessary.
